ICEAGE IN CONCERT:

Ever since their 2011 debut, Danish punk band Iceage has been hailed by critics as the saviors of punk rock. What may at first glance seem like a bit of critical hyperbole becomes immutable fact at the band's electrifying live shows, where their unbridled energy whips fans into a frenzy reminiscent of -- and perhaps more intense than -- punk's riotous heyday. Their ferocious live presence is matched by their voracious sound -- an amalgam of the best features of goth rock, post-punk, and even rockabilly that nods politely to the past while emerging greater than the sum of its parts. From the claustrophobic pummel of "White Rune" to the brooding shamble of "Forever", Iceage has made a clear and definitive case for punk's resurgence -- one unforgettable performance at a time.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Danish punk outfit Iceage was formed in 2008 by a group of Copenhagen teenagers. They quickly established themselves in the city's DIY scene, and in 2011 their debut album New Brigade was picked up for distribution by venerable New York indie label What's Your Rupture? The album quickly became a critical sensation, earning Best New Music from Pitchfork and resulting in the band's first US tour. Their 2013 sophomore album You're Nothing fared similarly, landing on numerous year-end lists and further cementing the band's reputation as saviors of punk music. A high-octane live act known for their moshpit-heavy shows and flippant attitudes, Iceage continue to impress on tour in support of their third album, 2014's moody Plowing Into the Field of Love.

The band was great, the venue is a DUMP!

by Pat on 10/14/22The Regent Theater - Los Angeles

Seriously, if you’re a band from out of the country this not how you welcome your fans. This venue is a joke, both inside and out and makes seeing a great band a bad experience.

The Best Rock Act I've Ever Seen!

by Liam Rocha on 10/4/22recordBar - Kansas City

The ferocity of these guys really gets manifested. They are the best band out there right now. The aggressive tunes and the symbiotic relationship of the band mesmerizes the audience. Please support this band. Iceage is the true definition of a band. War horses that gallop to the end. Give yourself a treat and look out for the closest show in town and dive into this glorious mayhem.

    Unreal

by JJ on 3/12/22Bowery Ballroom - New York

One of the best live performers I’ve seen. I wasn’t the most familiar with their music but the energy from their music comes across completely compared to just listening to the studio track. These guys are damn talented and know how to put on a show, my only regret is not buying tickets to the show they were playing the night after.

Iceage was everything I'd hope they'd be live! I only wish they would have played longer. I hope to catch them again one day.

    IceAge: Beautiful Train Wreck

by DirkCalloway on 6/17/13Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

First time in the Music Hall. Not a bad venue for underground bands. First few bands were mediocre. Pretty much forgettable except for Lower who sound like IceAge. Most people downstairs in the lounge were confused and thought it was Iceage. I thought their sound was generic. Most of the crowd watched A Place to Bury Strangers. Hate the name, but did like the performance. However, that's all it was. A bunch of smoke, lights, visuals, and a guitar being thrown around. I could definitely tell that they were the Brooklyn local heroes with something to prove. The crowd was into it which gave for a better performance. IceAge had only two stage lights and them. I liked that. They're sound was off which made me think the sound guy wasn't into making them sound any better than the previous band. The drums were off in the PA as well as the guitar being too quiet. The vocals were poorly done in the mix, but then I thought "well this is a punk rock band" and I got over all the stupid errors after just watching some hipster arena rock band. IceAge put on the performance I expected- dirty, sloppy, obnoxious, snotty, arrogant, raw, and persuasive with an end like a train wreck. I loved it.
