Track 1- In Real Life-beautiful upbeat song, does get a bit repetitive but I feel this is more Mandy's style than I'd Rather Lose from Silver Landings. Different from Merrimack River from Amanda Leigh of course, as I can't listen to Merrimack River for fun because its too beautiful and I don't want it to lose its beauty ever, but this song I can't listen to over and over again without it losing its charm. 9/10
Track 2-I would have switched Little Dreams with Heartlands because after the upbeat vibe of In Real Life this song slows down the album. Great song but track placement is all wrong. 8/10
Track 3-Little Dreams-excellent song that gives me slight Pocket Philospher vibes! 9/10
Track 4-Just Maybe- another beautiful song, maybe the Song About Home of this album without the Joni Mitchell sound but lovely in Mandy's own unique way!
Track 5-Living in the In Between-this song is fun but not my fave, reminds me of the last Mama and Papas album which they had to release to fulfill their contract, People Like Us, I Wanna Be A Star. It's not as weird as that song but its simply a bit odd, in the best possible way. 7/10
Track 6-In Other Words-Simply beautiful track. Think Indian Summer but longer and happier story. 9/10
Track 7-Four Moons-Ugh, I feel Mandy always picks the wrong song to be the single. Amanda Leigh's I Could Break Your Heart, Wild Hope's Extraordinary, Coverage's Have a Little Faith In Me. This song is great but not a single great. 7/10
Track 8- Little Victories-Another Great Song, not as dark as say a Fern Dell or Nothing Everything, but just as strong as those great songs! 8/10
Track 9-Heavy Lifting-I like the lyrics but the melody is not so strong. It's not quite an Everblue not quite a Song About Home, somewhere in between which is a shame-it could have been a but more interesting with a stronger melody. 7/10
Track 10-Brand New Nowhere-This songs sounds so familar-definitely a 70s sound. A song similar to Coverage, Wild Hope, and Silver Landings, so if you like those, you can like this song. Not my fave. 7/10
Track 11-Beautiful song, not an Everblue, but beautiful in its own way.
My second favorite album, 8/10. I do wonder if we will get a new album anytime soon or if ever again. I feel Mandy could give us one more stellar album if she still feels she has something to say, but sadly, I don't think these albums have been so successful. This could be the end of Mandy's singing career, one that has lasted since she was 15 and ending right before 40. Recently Mandy has said she might have a third child, which is great for her and her family, but if you're a fan you know the tour for this album was canceled due to her second pregnancy. I had hoped for a follow-up just as amazing as Amanda Leigh, but I might just have to be satisfied with that album. At least she made that one amazing album, better than her contemporaries Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, and even Christina Aguilera. I hope Mandy enjoys her family, and thank you for the musical memories!
I do recommend the bands Cannons and Against the Current, these female-fronted bands also release great tunes consistently. Music will always go on.
Love you always Mandy!
