About

HAMILTON LEITHAUSER IN CONCERT:

Hamilton Leithauser rose to indie rock stardom in the '00s as frontman for The Walkmen, but lately it's his ambitious solo efforts that are earning him praise. Leithauser's reedy, powerful voice remained front and center on his 2014 solo debut Black Hours, giving fans of The Walkmen plenty to love as he explored a wildly diverse range of retro genres over the record's 14 tracks. From the Sinatra-esque croon of "5 AM" to the Bob Dylan-inspired vocals of "Alexandra", Leithauser effectively evokes his forebears while never resorting to imitation. A seasoned performer who has graced the stages of some of the world's biggest festivals, Leithauser has ticket buyers eagerly awaiting his upcoming tour dates with Spoon and Broken Bells.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Hamilton Leithauser grew up in Washington, D.C., and in 2000 he formed The Walkmen with several other D.C.-area musicians. The band relocated to New York City, quickly becoming a staple of the city's music scene with their raw post-punk sound and Leithauser's unique vocals. Critically and commercially successful albums like Bows + Arrows (2004) and Lisbon (2010) established the band as one of the decade's leading indie acts, resulting in top billing at festivals like Lollapalooza and Reading and Leeds. After the band went on an indefinite hiatus in 2013, Leithauser made his solo debut with 2014's Black Hours. The album's retro-meets-modern sound and upbeat singles like "Alexandra" proved popular with critics and fans alike, drawing Leithauser out for a highly anticipated string of shows on tour.

    Great with two exceptions

by Onthewater on 11/6/21Moore Theatre - Seattle

Terrific in every way, with two exceptions. First, because I bought tickets at different times, I was not able to upload them all to my e wallet prior to the show. Finding them all at the door was a major hassle. Why not just give people the option of printing them out? Seems obvious. Second, I’m glad the Moore exists, but it is a very poor venue for a rock show. Shows like this should have a general admission floor to all for dancing. Plus, by midway through the last set there were many open seats towards the front of the stage. With a general admission floor those of us who are still present can take advantage and enjoy a better view. Otherwise, it was all aces. Thanks for a great night!

    A special night with HAMMOR

by Eric on 11/6/21Moore Theatre - Seattle

First show since pandemic and could not have asked for a better setting than with Kev and Ham. Also first time seeing both live but have been long time fans for over 10 years. Atmosphere was positive, staff was nice and helpful, and performances were brilliant!

    The Moore Theatre

by Ryno on 11/6/21Moore Theatre - Seattle

Hamilton and Kevin put on a more than excellent performance. Couldn’t ask for more of a better live show. Moore theatre is beautiful venue. However not very impressed with the staff. They can sell you a drink and for $3 more you can actually bring it into the show. But wait you can bring that cup back and use it at the next show. Not that a cup on your ride home that smells like alcohol isnt an open container or nothing. Money grab. And if staff are going to watch you like a hawk every time i take a drink and don’t put my mask right back. Well I think you can just count me out for any future shows at any STG affiliated venue. I like to spend money and have a good time but I wonder how many other people are doing the same.

The dude has pipes and blows the doors off the venue. All the women cried and got pregnant by just being there!

    AWESOME PERFORMANCE!!

    by Smash86 on 6/13/17Newport - Columbus

This was one of the best shows I've been to. His voice is amazing and the effort he puts into his performance is great. If he comes to your area you should DEFINITELY check him out. Lucy Dacus was the opening act and she was super talented as well.

    MUST-SEE PERFORMERS

by nat101nb on 1/25/17Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

the teragram ballroom is the coolest location for concerts that i have ever been to. it's an intimate setting, and most people don't show up until an hour before the event or even the time the event starts. it is a laid back atmosphere with great sound. hamilton leithauser and rostam are amazing on their own, but together: PHENOMENAL. hamilton screams and belts out his tunes with a passion that is unparalleled and rostam plays just about every instrument in accompaniment. it is fantastic and sounds really similar to the recorded version, with live twists here and there. hamilton has a really great voice and never falters or falls flat or sharp the whole performance. he and rostam talked to each other briefly throughout the show and their chemistry is undeniable. they work really well together and i wish i could see them again. fantastic, fantastic sound. 11/10

    Great show, as usual!

by jweb1989 on 4/29/15Bowery Ballroom - New York

I have seen Hamilton Leithauser a half dozen times when he led up the Walkmen, and I saw him on his own back in January at the Bowery Ballroom on his own. I feel like he is one of the best live performers out there today. The energy that he puts into his performances is palpable and you can't help but get psyched up when you are right there listening to him. If you have even a passing appreciation of his music, you need to see him in concert. You won't regret it!
