opinel no 6 carbon

THE RIGHT FEATURES AT THE RIGHT COST

The patented VIROBLOC locking mechanism keeps your knife safely closed in your pocket and locks the blade open during use. The simplicity of the knife’s design and it’s sustainable wooden handle makes the knife lightweight too!

Opinel No. 8 - Carbon

THE PERFECT SIZE FOR EVERYDAY CARRY

Both smart and simple, the Opinel folding knife is composed of 5 elements: the blade, the wooden handle, the fixed ferrule, the rivet and the rotating VIROBLOC locking ring which was added in 1955 to sizes No.06 and above.

The knife is equipped with a 3.25 inch blade, open length 7.5 inches.

Opinel No. 8 - Carbon

CARING FOR YOUR KNIFE

All Opinel wooden-handle knives are not designed to be washed in the dishwasher. Heat and moisture will cause any wood to swell which will make the knife hard to open at times. Opinel suggests carefully hand-washing and immediately drying the blade with a soft, dry towel. Lubricating the blade with cooking oil before closing the knife is recommended (this prevents oxidation).

opinel history

MADE IN THE FRENCH ALPS FOR OVER 130 YEARS

Joseph Opinel designed his first pocket knife in 1890, creating a tool that is as robust and functional as it is simple and beautiful. From his workshop at the foot of the French Alps, Opinel forged a cult classic. Generations of artists, explorers, and farmers have carried the instantly recognizable, imminently useful Opinel knife in their pockets.

Little has changed since 1890. Rooted in history and a commitment to craftsmanship, the Opinel family still makes their knives in the Savoie region of France. Each year, THEIR team of 150 employees in France manufactures over 5 million knives, ranging from outdoor tools to kitchen knives, all to honor Joseph Opinel’s focus on quality and simplicity.

Sustainable blade
I like the quality description of Opinel Blades. I got 2 paring knives one for my Son, & one for myself. A sharpe blade, worth the effort to maintain sharpness. This time I got us both a pocket knife, because the kitchen knife is so sharpe and a pleasure to use. The keen edge right out of the box, has not disappointed! I will look for this brand in future purchases!
