I wanted to compare the leak-proof ability of my 20 oz travel mug vs my 20 oz tumbler, because the travel mug seems to be less prone to leakage with its thicker, threaded lid. The threaded lid is really a hassle, as all of my other Yetis all have press on lids. To test to see if the leakproof quality of this mug is worth the added hassle of the screw on lid, I filled them both with water and laid them both over for about 90 seconds. I stopped when the water leaking from the tumbler had creeped up to the edge of the countertop. In the same amount of time, the travel mug had only lost a few drops. If watertightness is your priority because you travel off the beaten path, then this is the right mug for you!

So the insulation is really good for a vacuum insulated mug and I like that the lid is now a screw on rather than just a push fit. The only issue I have with this mug is if you put boiling water in it and tighten the lid down then the lid seems to expand enough that the lid is all but stuck onto the cup until it starts to cool. So great if you just add hot coffee to it but not so great if like me you add hot water to it first to warm it up then dump the water and add coffee.
