lightweight tarp/better in no wind

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Noah's Tarp by Kelty is a quality tarp to create shade on a sunny day. We recently took this on a trip to New Zealand and used it as often as we could at the beach. First, it's super lightweight making it easy to travel with, without taking up space or luggage weight. I'd highly recommend for anyone thinking about taking this on a vacation that requires flight because of its compactness and low weight. We primarily used this tarp at the beach. Because we were at the beach, we often had a hard time keeping the stakes down in the sand with the provided stakes in windier conditions. The stakes, by themselves, are made of good material, just not ideal for sand. Also, I'd say that ideally this tarp is not to be used in overly windy conditions without either separately purchased stakes to handle stronger gusts, or with sandbag stakes (that's more on me for not recognizing that early on than a knock on the product!) An option to sell either sand stakes or sandbag stakes along with the tarp could be useful. Overall, this tarp is made of high quality material, and when paired with the Kelty Staff Pole, you really get a lot of shade for minimal weight.

Love it!

Just used this car camping this past weekend in the Adirondacks and it was perfect!! It was a little tricky to put up with high winds, but it held up super well once we got it situated and in place. It survived 15-20 mph gusts, mid-heavy rain and snow!! Absolutely loved it and worth the price. Purchased the Kelty Staff Poles separately and they worked well!

Awesome Tarp

Was pleasantly surprised to see integrated guy wires with pockets in the corners (at least on the 16?). Used twice and set up easy. Seems strong. Haven?t been through a wind storm yet.

Bomb Shelter

Familiarity:

This tarp is a nimble beast! I've owned a Noah 9' for several years and love it. I added the 12' to my gear locker for my first backcountry trip with a hammock setup. It's plenty big for storm/winter mode. In porch mode there's room for a dance party. Tie-out points are beefy and construction is solid enough to cruise through the worst weather. It's not the lightest tarp out there, but I can sleep like a rock with peace of mind and that's well worth the weight equivalent of carrying an extra can of soda.
