Good stuff for night runners
I run primarily at night and often cross through traffic, and needed some good lights. These things are incredibly visible, with what looks like some powerful LEDs diffused through plastic, giving a nearly solid bar of light on the heel of your shoe. Even while looking forward you can notice a halo of light underneath you.I think some people were also concerned that these might come off? I've run a few weeks with mine now and give them a tug from time to time to see, and I really see no issue with grip. They seem to hold on pretty tight, and have little teeth to dig into your shoes.after finding that one of these was nice, I did go ahead and buy a second. the only argument I have for doing so is that, in the dark, you are more readily recognized as a runner. Is it completely necessary to buy two? no.should you? sure, if you buy my argument or you like having more toys. and what runner doesn't like toys?

    Pros: Tight grip
    super bright light
    lightweight
    waterproof
two modes of operation (steady and blink)

    Cons:
grip spikes may put dents/scratches in your shoe material
uses a watch battery (might be hard to find at a store)

I wore this for the first time last night (after a rainstorm), and was impressed with the brightness and visibility of such a small device. In fact, the light is so bright, it creates a glow on the ground around your foot strike area; about a 6" radius. The tension was such that it 'clipped' firmly onto the back heel (onto the heel counter, just above the mid-sole) of my running shoe. It was an effort to bend the spur out so it would fit on my heel, so I'm surprised that some reviewers reported it falling off. The little spikes on the inside of the spur are sharp, and actually bite into the shoe, so mine stayed put for the 5-miles test run I went on. Perhaps show size matters (I wear a 15). I'm not sure about battery life, since I just got it, but it says 100+ hours which isn't bad. I hit some water during the run, and a light rain, with no issues...so waterproof was good. The only questions I would have are battery life, and if the tight tension remains after continued use.

I got 2 of these for the express purpose of night running in my neighborhood. 3 months and 100+ miles later, here are my thoughts:
    - Battery life: no problems. I use them on the flashing mode and they're both as bright as they day I got them.
    - Grip: Initially great. They stuck to my shoes like burrs. For reference, I wear a women's size 10 wide. They were so snug at the beginning that they were difficult to put on. But over time, they've relaxed, and they sometimes work their way loose now. They're not falling off (yet), but I can see where they might.
    - Visibility: amazing. They are BRIGHT green and really grab peoples' attention. Cars give me a wider berth than they do by day.

Overall, I think these are a great safety enhancement for my runs, but I'd like it if they attached more securely. Pretty sure I'll lose them on the street one day, but when I do, I'll probably buy new ones.

It was great while the battery lasted! Unfortunately after the battery burned out it was impossible to replace. Getting the 8 tiny screws out was hard enough already just to access the battery. After all that work I couldn’t get the battery compartments closed completely again and it stopped turning on. So basically only functional if you don’t mind replacing it every time the battery burns out.

The product is Highly visable at night and makes me feel more secure about being seen. However, there are a few problems with the system. First, the price is a little steep at $20 for 1 (one) spur! although with the way they seem to break and fall off, maybe the ability to buy 1 isn't such a bad thing. Of the first set I had, I lost one within about 2 months. Prior to that they had stuck well and I made it a point to make sure they were secure before every run. I have 5 or 10mile routes that I run every day, and never had an issue witht them. They were comfortablely snug. This was all fine until about a month ago, when I discovered that the one that I had purchased to replace the lost/last one - was now non functional, it would work fine until I stretched it around the back of my shoe, and then it would not light up at all. (I'm a size 7B) I called the company to check about a return and never recieved a call back, even though the package states that they are 100% guaranteed. So now I wonder if I should buy another one?? With winter coming with less and less daylight to go around, I suspect that every running day will be at least in part darkness. But I need to depend on my tech/gear.

Bottom line: If the customer service were better, I would not hesitate to recommend this product. As it stands I will probably order another one for now and start reasearching better options. #1 - ($20) lost, #2 - ($20)not functional/can't return?? #3 - ($20): still holding on.

I need to run to keep my fitness goal. With pricey treadmills I can’t afford and the feeling after you get off a treadmill can be a bit nauseous. Running outside is my best bet. Where I’m from it is too hot to run during the day so I like running at night because it’s cooler. The spurs help when running at night. I make sure I put the spur on the shoe that is on the edge so people with their cars can see me better. It works really well and I love the color.
  • Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2018
I had the red pair and it worked out great. Unfortunately my niece lost one of them so I ordered the green spur.

Now I Love the two colors combo when walking or biking at night. Its super visible and attention grabbing.
They Clip on easily to your shoes and don't fall off when running.

I read some reviews about issues when replacing the battery but I have been using mine for a while and haven't had any battery issues yet. As long as you turn them off right away after using, they seem to be lasting a while. If anything, I can update the review in the future.

These are really superb - not cheap but worth the money. They grip well - there's no chance of them falling off (although I do have size 11 trainers which may help) and they really stand out. I run 3 - 4 times a week (always in the dark in the winter) and they are both bright and very noticeable which is what you want. Definitely recommended.

    i bought two of these

before putting them on they look quite slick and exceptional and the light is quite bright.

one fell off whilst running on my first run and I didn't find it despite re tracing my steps. The product itself is quite good quality. The only thing I would advised is to have an additional measure 'Velcro tape' or some sort of tie strap to make sure if it does slip off you don't lose it

    Quite a good idea

The customer service from FLOODIES was nothing short of excellent. Its a company I would happily endorse and do business with in the future.

    Hence the 5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant running safety device
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 30, 2014
I've only worn these a couple of times, but have to say that they're absolutely brilliant.
I was concerned that given the slippery design of my road-running shoes and my big feet, they wouldn't grip effectively and would slip during a run. However, my fears were totally ungrounded as they remained firmly in place, providing an enormous amount of light which should make me very visible to other road users.
They're also incredibly light-weight, so you simply forget you're wearing them (until you look down and notice the UFO-style green glow around your feet each time they land!)

I'd highly recommend these to anyone running on roads in the evenings or early mornings.
