Model 1 Lunette
I, like most, was very hesitant to try menstrual cups at first. Doubly so because I've always had issues with tampons leaking or being able to feel the string, no matter what brand/size/type I used. I had doubted that it would fit, that I wouldn't be able to feel it, and that it wouldn't leak. I am so glad that my menstrual cup works so perfectly. I might have been one of the lucky ones who didn't have too much trouble learning how to get it in and out. After the second time putting it in, I felt fairly comfortable with my ability to insert and remove it, and I've had no problems with it leaking. My one piece of advice is to trim the stem, if you feel you need it. I found the stem to be irritating until I cut it off completely, though others may like the stem or need it.There is also concern on how long you can leave it in. On a typical day I will empty my cup in the morning around the time I wake up, and empty it a second time right around bed. For me, that is about 12-15 hours and I don't usually need to empty it any more often than that. If you have a heavier flow you may have to empty it earlier. Worth noting, if it becomes full it will leak a bit, but nothing drastic. I did have one time where I left it on for too long on one of my (very rare)heavier days and I felt a bubbling sensation. It's hard to explain it, but I knew I needed to empty my cup. There was a tiny bit of blood when I wiped before emptying my cup, which was very full when I emptied it. Beyond that one instance of letting my cup get too full, I've never had any issues with leakage!I did extensive research on various cups, ranging from Diva to Lunette to Meluna and all the dizzying array of brands. The Lunette seemed like the cup for me, due to the smaller size. My periods are generally light and I've never had children. This cup was definitely for me, and I am eternally grateful I found the right cup one the first try. I would really suggest researching cups as much as you can! There is a channel on YouTube that deals primarily with menstrual cups and cloth pads, Precious Stars I believe, and it was definitely a life saver in terms of information, reviews, and comparisons between cups. I was on that channel for at least a week watching as many as videos as possible. She even turned me onto cloth pads, for when I am lighters and don't feel like using my cup.As for the quality of the cup and the packaging, the cup itself comes in a nice box covered by a sleeve letting you know the model and name(which is the color). Mine is Model 1 Aine(or coral). It also covers how to use it, with helpful pictures on the side, and various information on the cup on the back. Inside the dark color box comes your menstrual cup, along with a perfectly sized pouch to hold your cup when you're not using it. It also comes with instructions. The pouch is cute and soft, I love the material. I have not owned another cup, so I can't compare the build quality or how good the silicon is, but to me, it is very well made. The bottom of the cup has really nice gripping rings, and I found the amount of give from the silicon worked well for me. I didn't want a cup that was too rigid, my Lunette feels just right. The air holes at the rim were punched all the way through, and I don't have too much trouble rinsing them out.Overall, I love my cup. It may not be the one for everyone, but for me it is perfect. If you feel like this may be the cup for you, I really encourage you to try it! I'm upset I didn't switch sooner. It really is so much more convenient and comfortable than tampons and so much better for the environment.
