Harlem Toile de Jouy Hand Screened Wallpaper

$300.00 per roll

As an African American living in Harlem, I have always been intrigued and inspired by the historical narrative of the decorative arts, especially traditional French toile with its pastoral motifs from the late 1700s. I’m entertained by the stories these patterns tell and the questions they sometimes raise.   But after searching for many years for the perfect toile for my own home, I decided that it quite simply didn’t exist. My Harlem Toile wallpaper  (which lampoons some of the stereotypes deeply woven into the African American experience), has been featured in The Studio Museum In Harlem, The Cooper Hewitt Museum, The Museum of Art and Design in New York City and the Musée De La Toile De Jouy in France. Our hand screened Harlem Toile wallpaper is 27″ wide x 5 yards long with a 30″ repeat. There is a four roll minimum for standard orders (four rolls in one color only). Lead time is 4-6 weeks.

Our digital Multi Harlem Toile paper is originally hand colored with pencil by Sheila Bridges and this cannot be customized in any way.  Lead time for this wallpaper is 6 weeks. Please check with a professional wallpaper installer before ordering as our wall coverings cannot be returned or exchanged.  We do not provide estimates based on your measurements and strongly suggest having a professional measure your walls before ordering.
