I'm a sandal man. These are my go-to choice

I'm a sandal man. These are my go-to choice
Well, I decided it was time to but some new Rainbows. I usually keep a black pair and a brown pair. You know, for fashion. I actually had to throw out my black pair not long ago. It was unexpectedly heartbreaking to toss them in a trash can on the streets of New Orleans, but I had been doing a lot of walking that weekend, and they had gotten wet, and it was humid, and they were old, and I was getting blisters. Mind you, I wear sandals every damn day if it's above 50F. My feet are strong. But this was just a bad combination of circumstances, and they had to go, replaced by some cheap sneakers from Payless, just to get me through the day. Anyway. I noticed today that the brown ones are wearing a little thin. Still totally serviceable and comfortable, but the soles are pretty bare now, so their end-of-life looms in the near future. So I get on Amazon to reorder. Guess when I made my previous purchase. I bought the brown ones in 2012 and the blacks in 2013. I'm not exaggerating when I say I wear them every day and everywhere. To work, to the lake, to the beach, doing yard work, walking the dog. I've traveled countless miles in them. They've been wet, sandy, sun-baked, and abused. To have gotten five good years out of them is simply impressive. And so, I confidently return to buy a new pair (or two) of the double layer Rainbows. So when my current flops finally give up the ghost, I've got a replacement, broken in and ready to go, with no down time. They're more expensive than I'd want to spend on sandals, but they're worth it. I wear a 9.5 in most shoes, and my feet are EE wide. The Rainbows Medium fits me great. The strap starts out a little snug, but it quickly stretches ever so slightly to accommodate my fat flippers. Then it holds that shape over the years, which is nice, because a good fitting thong means I'm not wearing out my toes, curling them with each step to keep the shoe from flying off. This is just a comfortable, durable, and well-fitting shoe, with a great warranty on top of all that. Trust me. I'm a sandal guy. I buy Rainbows.

Wish I knew about the extra cushy double padded soles when I was a young lifeguard.

They fit and feel great. Very comfortable.

I recommend treating the leather with mink oil or something if you intend to wear them in wet environments. My last pair lasted me 5 summers before I wore holes in the soles. They were still comfortable until I replaced them with the thicker soles.

They should fit a little snug at first. They will break in and feel looser in no time. Especially after you treat them. If the part that goes between your toes feels too rough.. a few strokes with some high grit sandpaper and some oil will soften the contact points real quick.

If this style sandal doesn't bother you then buy these and enjoy the highest quality flops I've ever worn.

Ok. I do not write comments at all, though I buy stuff from this addicting web site all the time. But, I am so impressed with these I feel the need to share my experience: I am not endorsed or sponsored by Rainbow (but I should be their tester). I am thankful to live on the beach, where the Temperature doesn't get below 75 or over 85, almost year round. I have been wearing flip flops, all day, everyday, even at work, standing all day, for the last 9 years (casual wearer prior). I don't think flip flops are made for a person like me, but more for the casual, summertime wearer. So I have gone through a good amount of flip flops, and almost every brand out there, from the $25-$200 brands. I hike in them, swim with them, bike, climb, work, etc. Over time most of them break, de-lam, wear too fast, or just stink really bad. Some of the more reputable surf brand flips in the $150 range can make your feet stank in less than a week (and I have everyone saying that), not to mention why would you open a bottle, with the bottom of your shoe, when you know that's gonna touch your lips (would you lick the bottom of your shoe?). Ive been rocking a name brand synthetic flip flop for years, because of durability, comfort, arch and zero foot stink. Ive had friends for years tell me about rainbows, but I was reluctant because of the leather, I was SURE that would lead to some stink, and when it got wet it would be slippery. So I bought the double layer, delivered fast, slipped my foot in, and it was magic. No breaking in period. Right to comfort. 7 months later: STILL my most favorite flip I have ever owned. Now they are molded to my feet, give me the arch support I need (since I don't wear shoes), never a feet funk, and when they get wet they stay on nicely. (I bought the hemp ones too, but from personal experience, and my friends: they are awesome comfortable, but if they get wet, the weave harbors bacteria and they bring the funk. Stick with the Double layer leather. F'N Amazing. And I believe they are guaranteed for life? Have not tried that yet, nor even know if I ever will have too. Worth every penny. The whole family has them now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rainbow Sandals - brilliant quality and looks

Rainbow Sandals (flip-flops to me) are the best on the market. I bought a pair light browns twenty years ago in the
Canary Islands and I still have them. The built up arch support is quite unique to flip-flops so you get what you pay
for with this pair and that is quality. I did get a blister or two wearing-in the strap but this ensures that once "warn-in"
the sandal will still grip tightly to the foot. Overall a brilliant piece of footwear for the beach and casual use.
