Poor Quality

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Having bought many pairs of these over the years, the last couple batches I’ve bought have been surprisingly poor quality. Most of them have frayed, torn, and had holes rip in them from just regular use over the last year. As much as I love the fit, comfort, and look of these, it’s hard to justify paying for these just to fall apart.

Good for casual use, not for the trail

These underwear are very comfortable, wick sweat well, and seem quite durable. But the material is thick and slow to hang dry, I have a nice wool pair of boxers from another brand that was in the same price range as these Patagonia tencel boxers. I hand wash and hang dry my underwear and socks when traveling/hiking. My wool socks, wool boxers, and my cheap synthetic boxers all hang dry significantly faster than these Patagonia tencel boxers, so I'll only be using them at home which to me doesn't quite make them worth the price.

So far so good

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I have been exclusively wearing Ex-Officio Give-N-Go boxer briefs for about 10 years. I discovered them while looking for something i could sink wash on a mountaineering trip and ended up replacing all of my boxers with them. As my first pairs are starting to wear out (seriously, after 10 years of daily wear), I'm trying to diversify and find some good alternatives. So far, these "Essential" boxer briefs have been super comfortable in fabric and fit, but I am not sure what the longevity will be. The waistband is about what I expect for size M, and the fabric is very soft and comfortable, so i have high hopes, although I doubt anything this soft can outlast the Give-N-Gos, and I don't yet know whether they do as well (or better) with odor control and breathability. I don't think these will be what i grab when I'm heading for the trail, but they definitely work for casual use.

These are super soft and super comfortable! They do decently for more intense activity, but I still prefer something from Smartwool for things like running or cycling.

Surprisingly comfortable

This is a nice soft alternative to other underwear I have. I don?t think they were made as alternatives to under armour type undies though so not sure about their performance in that regard. Still. Good looking and super comfy

I love Patagonia as a company so much, but this underwear is a tad too long - gets a bit hot too. I'd recommend Icebreaker over this for a premium wool option, they are now my go-to. Love patagonia for everything else.e

Comfortable is an understatement

I bought two of these and I can honestly say that they are the most comfortable underwear I have ever worn. I will definitely be buying more since they are on sale at the moment. The moisture-wicking properties are nice as well. I'm not a fan of the 100% spandex athletic briefs that other brands have and I feel like these Patagonia briefs work just as well without being uncomfortable. I am 5'8" 140lbs so I'm pretty skinny and the mediums fit me perfectly.
