After years of being in the field in a construction related industry, my experience and knowledge landed me in an office. 25 years of moving around all day I've migrated to office work. Sitting all day sapped my energy. I found my self standing hunched over my keyboard, or kneeling. A$$ hurt from sitting, tailbone ached. Knew I had to stand. Did not want to spend $400 on a product that rhymes with "scary pest." So I tried this product and it has been awesome. In use for 8 weeks. Solid build, adjusts easily and a perfect size. The work surface is a thick piece of high impact plastic. The frame is stamped steel. The gears and mechanism are steel. It adjusts easily in what I'm guessing are 1/2 inch increments. As i said I've used it for 8 weeks. No failures, no problems. It clearly state not to put more than 22 pounds of pressure on it while elevated. I have caught myself leaning on it and had no problems, however don't do it.
When collapsed flat you can put all the pressure you want on it. If your looking for a economical variable desk top this one works great. I will never be an office dweller without one. I recommend to all my coworkers, friends and family. My body feels better and my energy levels are much higher. Cannot recommend enough.

Good product but has some issues
My desk is a bit low, so I had to use several books to raise my laptop computer so that I can sit up. But the books are not stable enough. So, I decided to purchase this laptop stand to use. I just received it today and tried it. Here is my honest comment:Pros: This stand is large enough. My laptop is 17 inches and when I put my laptop on the stand, it occupies only half of the surface area. Therefore, I can work on the stand easily (sufficient room for my arms and mouse). In the attached image, you can compare the sizes of the stand and my laptop computer (17 inches). It is stable. Strong enough. It is heavy. For someone, being heavy could be an issue with the product. But I prefer heavy ones because I believe heavier ones are more durable and more stable.Cons: The height is indeed adjustable, but we can put the height on only defined grids. The heights of the stand can be 3.0 cm, 17.4 cm, 20.8 cm, 24.2 cm, 27.0 cm, 31.0 cm, 36.0 cm, and 40 cm. But we cannot put the height between those values. For instance, 3.0 cm is way to low for me, and 17.4 cm is a bit too high for me. Ideally, I want to put the height at 14 cm. However, there is no way to do that. I hope that manufacturers can upgrade this product and design at least two heights between 3.0 cm and 17.4 cm. When I put the height at 17.4 cm, the stand is less stable (i.e., when at other heights, the stand is much more stable). I am not sure whether this is a product defect for all products or just a random issue for my specific product. I did not purchase a brand-new item but a used one (like new). So, it is possible that this is not a system-wide issue for this product.Overall, this is a good product but also has some issues. I would give it Four stars. Through research, consideration, and elimination I bet my money on this Ultra Slim Sit-Stand Riser. I made a good choice. Strong, sturdy, easy to operate, smooth lift, smooth dropdown, it is very well designed, and made of high-quality materials with rubber feet protect my desktop. I trust it for my new thirty-two-inch monitor. The blacktop has plenty of room for my phone and my glass of water. My keyboard and trackpad sit on a separate little table perfect for my writing needs. Standing up makes me feel better and think smarter as I work.

I bought a used model that was only $35 because it was broken and needed some screws replaced. After fixing it up I tried it out and I have to admit for its function it works pretty well! It can carry an Apple LED display, laptop, keyboard, and mouse.
