Small sacrifice to save the planet!
As society moves to a more sustainable world, we can all agree that Styrofoam is out, and biodegradable alternatives are the next big thing. This extends to a realm where Styrofoam rules, coolers. Many people without the means or storage to buy a hard shell cooler, opt for the disposable kind for a trip to the beach, tailgating, or camping. So in reviewing this cooler, I decided to look at what most people are wondering, how does this thing compare to the squeaky, splitting, solar system spoiling Styrofoam that we're accustomed to? It's noticeably smaller in size, made of densely pressed recycled paper, sturdier and heavier than foam and it's shaped with indentations for your hands to grip to make it easy to transport. You don't have to be as gentle with it or worry that it will split or crack, it's pretty close to a hard plastic. The interior is more spacious than expected, I didn't compare the two volume-wise but for cans of soda or beer, or transporting ice, it holds nearly 20 cans, about the same amount as the foam, maybe a little less if you were filling it to the brim with sandwiches but not much. The lid is pressed so that it can seat 4 cans or drinks atop which is a nice touch, especially as people will be using this outdoors where they may not have a table or bench to rest their drinks. As for insulation, it works great, almost as well as a foam cooler. It will keep your drinks on ice a full 8 hours and slowly starts to warm up after about 12-13 hours. The best part, it didn't get wet! I expected the cooler to get soggy, like those horrible paper straws but thankfully, it held its shape even full with water, and then you can set it in the sun to dry and use it again. When you're finally done with it you know you're not harming the environment as it's compostable and biodegradable. It costs a bit more than a foam cooler, but the ability to reuse it multiple times, and its Eco-friendly lifecycle make it a much better choice for outings with family and friends for a sustainable future.

    Bought these for a road trip. I lined it with a trash bag so the ice didn't soak through. That worked fine and got more longevity out of them. The ice, however, didn't last more than a night though. The water didn't stay cool more than a day. We had trouble keeping the cooler lid on. Part because of what we had inside and part because they don't have a very tight seal to begin with. I liked the concept and maybe for a shorter trip, they would work well. It did take up less space than a Styrofoam one would have but I don't think it performed as well.
