The Better Homes and Gardens Kitchen Cart requires only a No. 2 Phillips screwdriver for the assembly, not included. Easy to follow step by step instructions are included.

Yes, a small woman could put it together..be sure to follow instructions.. and you only need a screwdriver.

Can one person (small woman) put this together alone without own tools?

We understand that our products may have an odor when unpacked and first put into use.  This is comparable to odors from painting, new carpet or even that “new car smell”. This odor can come from a variety of manufacturing processes and materials used during production including adhesives, inks, and the glue “resins” used in particleboard. The best way to help relieve any temporary odor can be summed up in one word – ventilation. 

During the warm, fair-weather months, this can be as simple as opening the windows.  Another available approach, particularly in the winter months, is to turn-up the thermostat and increase the house or room temperature as high as the furnace will allow - for about an hour.  Then, turn down the furnace, open the windows, and let the residence “air-out.”

Mine had no odor at all, but I picked it up assembled and may have aired out being out of the box.

I bought this but I notice the wood stinks, why is this so?

Beautiful and solid! The drawers are deep enough to put coffee pods in. The shelves behind the door have ample space for whatever you want to put in there.  The granite top is a plus so nowater damage. Very impressed!

Granite top Kitchen Cart

Love it, was exactly like it looked on the website and in a magazine, it did have on small piece missing that held the towel bar in place, we called the company that makes the cart, and they were so nice and promptly sent the piece to us with no problem and no charge, It is a little heavy so have help getting it and also assembling it, takes awhile to assemble also, but no big deal.Wish the screws and other small pieces were packaged and marked better, but it just makes you think a little more lol, over all I love it, it is exactly what I wanted and I did read ALL of the reviews on it

Black granite top better homes and garden cart

I received my island last week and I was very pleased that all of the parts including the granite top arrived intact since this has been a problem for some people that have reviewed this product.  It took my son and I approximately  1 1/2 hours to put it together. Warning! The granite top is very heavy and it took the both of us to lift it.  The only reason I am giving this product a 4 instead of a 5 is the quality of the cabinetry,  it could have been better material.   It is however a sturdy and nice addition to my kitchen which lacks counter space.

If you are looking for something study with storage this may not be the cart for you.  The drawers are a bit flimsy and I worry that they may fall apart if there is anything heavier than kitchen towels in them.  Fortunately, I was mainly in need of the counter area and little cabinets for miscellaneous light items.  The cart and granite counter top are very beautiful.  The color scheme of my kitchen is very similar to the cart.  I love that it is on casters so I can move it around if needed and also makes cleaning behind it easier.  It did take my husband a bit of time to put together, so be prepared.  All in all, I love it!
