    I got my GIR Mini as a Kickstarter stretch-goal bonus item, so I wasn't really expecting to adore it. But after having it in my kitchen for a few weeks, I'm downright shocked at how often I use it for tasks like these:

    1. Lifting viscous substances out of a measuring cup, like honey/peanut butter/tahini, cleanly and neatly
    2. Digging stuff out from the bottom of my food processor, especially stuff that got lodged under the food processor blade
    3. Giving it to kids so they can assist in the kitchen (it is the PERFECT size for a kid's hand)
    4. Digging to the bottom of a jar of anything (note: if this is your primary use interest for the GIR Mini, consider the GIR Skinny instead because it's basically the GIR Mini with a longer handle)
    5. Delicate frosting work, like buttercream on cupcakes

    Despite it's small size, though, it's a very well-made item. It's one continuous piece that's also dishwasher safe, it's sturdy/not so bendy that I'm worried that I'll snap doing everyday tasks (<--ask me how many spatulae I've killed that way), and it comes in bright colors (<--pro tip: order it in a contrasting color to your other kitchenware so you can spot it easily in your utility basket or drawer.) What's not to like?

    That said, if you can't afford to have the full set of four GIR sizes, there's an argument to be made in favor of the Skinny over the Mini. The Mini's dimensions are 8.3 inches long with a 3.6 inch blade. The Skinny's dimensions are 11 inches long with a 3.9 inch blade. So unless you're using the Mini with kids, there's an argument for "Just buy the Skinny instead because it's more versatile, and you can choke up a little on the handle for situations where you'd be using a Skinny like a Mini." My sister owns the Skinny and loves it for getting into tall or deep jars, like mayonnaise jars. And honestly, I use my Mini so much when I'm baking that I often end up rinsing it/washing it multiple times during cooking as I move between ingredients, so I may pick up a Skinny to lessen my trips to the sink.
