Product Description
Koda Farms Kokuho Rose Heirloom Japanese Style Rice, 15 Pound, 60 year old heirloom proprietary varietal medium grain rice prized for its subtle floral flavor, refreshing slightly sweet aftertaste, and tender texture. It is only grown in a unique microclimate of California's san Joaquin valley by the third generation of the Koda family whose farming experience dates from the 1910s. Committed to quality, the family manages all aspects including on site seed nurseries, cultivation, milling to higher standards than industry norms, and packaging under their unique brands. This rice was nurtured with sustainable farming practices that support nesting and feeding habitat for shoreline birds and waterfowl (nature conservancy and Audubon society reviewed and approved). Appropriate for a superior table rice experience, perfect for sushi, Italian risotto, and Spanish paella as well. GMO-free, gluten-free, certified kosher, friction polished white rice – product of USA, farmed and processed in California.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2025Buyers beware…Not a bag of new crop.
Last year I purchased the same bag of rice at a local Asian market and enjoyed it very much. I have been looking to purchase another bag this year but couldn’t find it and decided to try Amazon. Bad decision.
This is far from what I had last year. Sorely disappointed. Doesn’t have the same aroma and texture is not the same. This must be a bag of very old rice. Paid 50% more than the store price.
Will never buy again.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2024An excellent Japanese short-grain rice I have eaten for decades. New Crop is highly sought and in my experience sells out quickly at Japanese food stores.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2014Kouho Rose Koda Farms is THE BEST RICE!
When we lived in California I became acquainted with this delicious rice. The local stores do not carry it, but I was so pleased to see it offered by Amazon. Unlike many other varieties and brands, this one has a subtle flavor. The others now taste like cardboard to me.
When cooking this rice you will see it swell to an oval roundish shape. It is slightly sticky, which means that we can use chop sticks and the children can easily get it onto a fork and into their mouths without it all landing on every surface, including the floor!
Thank you for offering my favorite rice.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2022Always liked the Kokuho Rose rice, but this particular heirloom brand makes a difference in quality. Remember when you went from generic "rice" to quality Jasmine rice or Japanese grain premium rice? Yeah, going from those to heirloom rice is another step in quality. Not a HUGE one, but a bag of rice goes a long way, so enjoy the quality when you can.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2024I bought 4 bags since we prefer this brand, but after a few months we noticed bugs in our storage drawer. This batch was infested. Despite asking for a refund, this business said it’s not eligible for refund anymore. Don’t buy from this company, their rice has bugs AND they refuse to take responsibility for the product they sell. Unbelievable!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2024Great shipping no issues! Love my sushi rice. I cannot get it around my area!
