Getting Started
All items in the Le Creuset stoneware range are original designs and have been hand-crafted, making each piece unique. Due to this uniqueness, there may be slight variations from piece to piece.
Le Creuset Stoneware is safe for use in the microwave, freezer, refrigerator, dishwasher, oven and broiler. The maximum oven-safe temperature is 500°F / 260°C.
Getting Started
The enameled surface is easy to clean and scratch-resistant. The enamel is completely hygienic and will not absorb odors or flavors.
Le Creuset Stoneware is extremely strong and durable, and resists staining, chipping and cracking. The handles, knobs and rims have been designed for a secure, easy-to-hold grip.
Do not use any Stoneware piece on the stovetop or any other direct heat source.
Cleaning and care
Oven: Maximum oven-safe temperature is 500°F / 260°C. Use oven mitts for lifting at all times.
Broiler: When using under a broiler allow a gap of no less than 2 ½ inches between the rim of the dish and the heat source.
Microwave: Handles may become hot during prolonged microwave use, especially if the handles are enclosed with plastic wrap. Cover just the open top of the dish, leaving the handles exposed.
Freezer-To-Oven Use: Do not place a frozen dish of food in a preheated oven. Place the frozen dish in a cold oven and set the temperature, allowing the dish and oven to heat together. Before serving always check that the center of the food is completely and uniformly hot.
Cleaning and care
Cleaning: Before the first use, wash the dish in hot, soapy water, and rinse and dry thoroughly. For most day-to-day cleaning, cool the dish for a few minutes before washing and drying, or wash in the dishwasher, allowing the full cycle to complete. Never leave a dish fully immersed in water.
For removal of stubborn residues allow the dish to cool, fill with warm, soapy water and allow it to soak for 10 to 20 minutes. Wash in the usual way using a plastic brush or scouring pad if necessary.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2024Color: WhiteVerified PurchaseYou can never go wrong with Le Creuset. While it’s on the pricier side, this french press is built to last—heavier duty than others so expect it to be a kitchen staple for the next 20+ years. The white color is simple, timeless, and complements any kitchen decor. Durable, versatile, and beautifully crafted, it’s worth every penny.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2014Color: MarseilleVerified PurchaseMy husband and I fell hard for French pressed coffee a few years ago and I bought him this Christmas of 2012 (I figured I couldn't do any better than a French made French Press!).
I work night shift and he and I both are in grad school, so we go through a ton of coffee. When I say this I don't just mean we make a pot every morning, but rather multiple pots a day—every day. Given its frequent use, this press has become a permanent counter fixture. For us this unusual, as I normally hate for things to sit out. Though surprisingly I don't mind to see this product out when I walk in the kitchen. One, because it's beautiful. Two, because we seriously use it all the time. And three because coffee makes me happy :)
Unfortunately my husband chipped about a centimeter size piece off the spout a couple months back. It initially made me pretty sad because of how much I love this French. I ended up getting some epoxy and reattaching the chip—now you can hardly tell it's there. I don't fault the product for the break. My husband was forcibly shaking out some used grounds and hit the side of our metal bin pretty hard with the spout . It’s actually surprising that the break wasn’t a lot worse. It is stoneware after all.
In response to those who complain the press feels light and/or is not a durable product:
You may have gotten an Le Creuset imitation product (I have seen others report such).
If they have authentic products and still think they are too light--think of this. This product holds nearly 30 oz of fluid which equals to around 2lbs. Add this 2lbs of fluid weight to the product's dry weight of nearly 3lbs, you get a pretty hefty little French press. I doubt the manufactures’ would want to make it much heavier as some may have trouble controlling the pour of the hot liquid.
The only negative I can think of for this product is: I wish there were replacement screen/filters available through Le Creuset. The metal screen filter is very thin (which makes for excellent non-grainy coffee) and I am sure it will eventually breakdown. So far I have not noticed any wear. However I plan on using my pretty blue French press as long as possible and don't see the filter lasting through the decades.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2025Color: WhiteVerified PurchaseI am happy that I spent the extra money (versus other French presses) to get a high quality and beautiful Le Creuset. Plenty of capacity for 4-5 cups and easy to use.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2025Color: ArtichautVerified PurchaseI used to have the transparent glass one but this put a different touch in my kitchen. Adds class , more aesthetic in the eye.plus this is bigger than the usual press.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2021Color: WhiteVerified PurchaseExcellent, beautiful option if you're tired of breaking glass beakers, and especially if you are sensitive to metallic taste. I did tons of research, avoiding plastic touching coffee, etc. This is the only ceramic FP I could find that checked all the boxes, so it's worth the price. Typical Le Cruset quality standards.
Look, coffee is the last vice I have...so I do it right, by golly. Use good coffee with FP/coarse grind and you'll be a convert too. After trying several brands, I use Starbucks French Roast as my daily house brand (Starbucks was the most forgiving if you are lax about brew times. Others were great, but would easily turn bitter if left a tiny bit too long.) I use a Breville burr grinder and a FP or Aeropress. My IT guy loves it when I have a problem and he can come in the morning and get a real cup of coffee. It's important to keep your IT guy happy. If you won't do it for yourself, do it for him.
FPs CAN SO BE EASY TO CLEAN! First off, if you use FP/coarse grind coffee you will have no problems with grounds in your cup or your drains. To clean, run a strong water stream from the faucet to rinse the filters over the FP so grounds go in press, not down drain. Then continue the stream into the grounds "puck", and dump them into a fine mesh strainer. Blast the puck again till it's all in the strainer (Usually just twice.) Then dump strainer in the garbage. That's all I do on a daily basis, then put it all in the dishwasher every time I run it.
You deserve good coffee...its right there in the Declaration of Independence: "All people are created equal, and have a right to life, liberty and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS" (history major.) If you aren't going to use good coffee and grind it right, stick with a Cuisinart drip maker till you can manage the rest. (Hot tip from my drip days: try Cafe Bustello cuban coffee. If it's too strong for you, use 1/2 the normal amount for American coffee. Good taste at unbeatable price.)
