Storm Cloud: A Weather Predicting Instrument Misc. Supplies – May 7, 2019
Purchase options and add-ons
In the 1800s, during his voyage with Charles Darwin, Admiral Robert Fitzroy used and later popularized the storm glass, which promised to predict the weather. A beautiful twist on this classic device, the Storm Cloud is a fun way of seeing what the weather has in store. Filled with a special liquid that responds to changes in the atmosphere, the crystals within the cloud-shaped glass indicate whether it'll be fair, cloudy, rainy, windy, or stormy. Whether sitting on a windowsill or a desk, the Storm Cloud is irresistible décor for the curious-minded.
ENTERTAINING AND EDUCATIONAL: The Storm Cloud is as stylish and fun as it is informative. Place it on a shelf or table and marvel as it reveals each day’s forecast.
UNIQUE GIFT: This distinctive item makes a perfect gift for any daydreamer or nature lover.
RAVE REVIEWS: With hundreds of five-star ratings, reviewers love the Storm Cloud. One person calls it a “great conversation piece” and another says it’s “the best barometer EVER!”

- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2024It’s cute and I love it.
However, I don’t know if it truly predicts the weather. However, it’s cute and I love it anyway and it lives happily in my window :)
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2023I really wanted to like this a lot and brought it for actual functionality. Hopefully. But I find that it doesn’t quite shift and change. I get pretty the same display summer or winter. I still like it for decorative purposes but wished it worked better. It is a little pricey for decoration only.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2023It took about 2 weeks for it "calibrate" or whatever it's called, but now we're seeing crystals forming. It's definitely a conversation piece and it's fun trying to interpret the crystals. We like it

- Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2022Man, do I love this thing! My hopes were not high, but after a few months of letting it settle, it’s finally working! Super fun for an office, and placed near a window but not in direct sunlight.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute but doesn’t really work
This is such a cute little addition to our child’s room. However, after following instructions to clear the water using a hair dryer, the cloud still only shows the same “forecast” every day (crystals on bottom).

1.0 out of 5 stars Very toxic
Really neat idea, however I had to return it due to the extreme toxicity of the liquid that housed the crystals. The instruction detailed extensive first aid requirements should you come into contact with the liquid. Having both animals and small children who could potentially break the glass I could not in good conscience keep it in my home.
