Editorial Reviews
Released in February 1972, Harvest was Neil Young’s third solo album and is one of the most successful and well-loved albums in his long career. The album was number 1 in many countries and features the worldwide hit single “Heart of Gold”. The 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition Box Sets will be released on vinyl and CD in late 2022. The box sets include the original album, 3 outtakes from the Harvest sessions, two DVDs and a hard bound book. The first DVD is Harvest Time - a 2-hour, unreleased film shot during the making of Harvest, and includes footage at Neil’s Broken Arrow ranch in Northern California, plus the recording sessions in Nashville and London. The second DVD is an unreleased BBC In Concert live performance from February 1971. The hard bound book that accompanies the box sets includes 40 photographs, many of which have never been published before, and liner notes by Joel Bernstein. The vinyl box comes with a lithograph and a poster; the CD format contains the poster.

I’ve not listened to the album or watched the live thing yet. But I did watch the movie of them making the album. I was amazed by everything on the screen. I was born in 85. I had a brain injury in 03. Since then, I always feel like I am in the wrong time and place. This movie, it felt like where I should be. Way back in the early 70s. I thought about what other famous things were being made at that exact time. What were my grandparents doing. My grandfather would have been 30 or 31 at the time. My mom was a kid. The world was a different place. My mind was working on so many thoughts.
You get to see a group of people that love music. Trying to make something new. The way they work, and play is amazing. Young has something in his head and if he does not feel it, he just keeps going. I understand that. Never quit.
The cars and cloths, I dug those things. Everything was so different back then.
I found the kid that interviewed him at some point in the movie interesting. I wonder what he ever did with his life.
When the guy working with the orchestra asks Young if he ever heard Pink Floyd and Young says no, I found that cool. I wondered how that could be so. But then remembered we live in a different time. You can hear music almost anywhere you go. Back then you could not.
Young saying, he couldn’t read music. That blew my mind. Yet, he can hear it better than most.
When they were smoking what they were and one of the guys seemed bothered when they tried to give him some. I laughed so much at that.
I saw that some said this was to long. I totally disagree. You can’t put a time limit on a feeling or a thought. That is what this movie is. If this would have been eight hours long, I would have watched the entire thing.
I have started writing at least four songs since finishing this movie. Some music puts ideas in my mind. I was excited to finish writing the stuff. Youngs music often puts lyrics in my mind. I also got a song from watching his interview with Stern a week ago.
Great movie. A moment in time.

Returned that copy and received a second box set. It was a bit better but still not good for the price you pay for a box set of this quality!
I did not return this copy but wish I had. The wow/flutter in playback is very disappointing.
1 exemplaar retour gestuurd, 2 was beter en klonk niet vals . nog wel steeds een slinger plaat .
kan eigenlijk niet voor dit geld.
