About

Westerman on Tour

Experimental yet steeped in his influences, Westerman moves to his own beat. Mixing folk and electronic music, Will Westerman melds simple instrumentals with relaxed synthesizers and thought-provoking lyrics. The Westerman: North American Tour 2023, his first North American tour in four years, is set to take him through the United States and Canada following his 2022 tour through Italy, Hungary, England, and Scotland. These tours follow the release of his hit 2022 single "Idol; RE-run", the first non-remixed song he has released since his debut album.

Westerman's live shows are atmospheric, featuring his eloquent lyrics along with subtle instrumentals and storytelling that carries a nostalgia for many artists' past, often carrying a spiritual quality. His profound music is as beautiful live as it is in the studio. While Westerman has been actively making music for some time, he debuted his premiere Call and Response EP in 2017, which was followed by 2018's Ark EP. In 2020, Westerman released his album, Your Hero is Not Dead. Following a two-year hiatus, Westerman returned to the scene with his hit single "Idol; RE-run".

Westerman Live in Concert

Born in South London, Westerman is currently based in Athens, Greece. Westerman's interest in music began at a young age. Beginning at age 8, he started singing in a choir and eventually attained a music scholarship to England's acclaimed Charterhouse boarding school. A talent show at Charterhouse provided his chance for his first live performance at the age of 16 after teaching himself to play guitar. Throughout his early 20s, he would perform at various open mic nights in London, leading him to eventually win Best Country/Folk Act from the Unsigned Music Awards in 2016. Neil Young has been cited as one of Westerman's biggest influences. Westerman's songwriting has been influenced by Young's belief that an artist should be able to play the songs they write on their own. For this reason, Westerman still writes on an acoustic guitar.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Westerman used his time in isolation to explore creatively following a period of disillusionment and uncertainty. While initially feeling stifled, he used the creative freedom to take his writing to both new experimental and personal heights. His first output from the period, "Idol; RE-run" showcases this by exploring the sociological implications of the internet and modern politics, inspired by the events at the U.S. Capitol building on January 6, 2021. Westerman has more 350,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. His most popular single, "Confirmation," has been streamed more than 11.5 million times.
