As it happened, YouTube magically recommended me their new single Cracker Island and I felt like I was a teenager again! I rarely buy physical CDs, but I knew this one was special and naturally had to get it.
This album is the perfect length for a listening session. Each song builds on the last and takes you to the next step of a dark but beautiful and kaleidoscopic journey. I love the overall message and appreciate the critique of our screen addicted and celebrity worshipping world. There is melancholy over the impermanence of our idolizing, hyper-fragmented reality. But of course it's all fun and something you can dance to at three in the morning haha! The album ends on a hopeful note, a reminder that we are all still connected despite how impersonal and shallow most of our communication has become. (At least that's how I see it.)
This is all simply to say that Gorillaz still speak to my heart and soul and I am grateful to be sharing the same world as them. The stars above are just right.
P.S. As a side note I listened to Cracker Island around the same time as watching the film Under the Silver Lake. Funny how the universe works!
my only gripe with this release is its too short at ten songs and i feel short changed for not having a copy of the deluxe edition which has the stunning piano version of silent running.

CONCLUSIONI
Se amate i Gorillaz, lo avrete già. Se volete perdervi in un album moderno, nuovo, fresco, curato... Provatelo.
