At your height, the Exerpeutic 325 stride is a good fit... Your son needs to determine if he wants an elliptical with a long stride, and whether that is important to him..... Generally speaking longer stride ellipticals are more expensive, because the flywheel has to be bigger. Our Exerpeutic 21" elliptical has a much longer stride than the 325, but it is more epensive.... Bottom line,it depends on the stride length preference of each user

Yes it works well for various heights, I am tall 6'4" and the wife is 5'5" and we have no problem with the stride.

I am 5' 11" and weigh 175 lbs. Height is not a factor.

I'm 5'1" and it feels too short of a stride for me. I't's also very jerky not a smooth stride at all.

Is this machine good for both a short and tall person?

This machine is battery powered, but be careful cause when my wife order it on line . we didnt get a manual to put it together. But i figured out how..a great machine..
