The greatest challenge for regular thermostatically controlled toasters is to slightly—barely brown—toast. You might find a setting that does it on a first try but 2nd and 3rd pieces will come out way too light—or entirely unbrowned—because the toaster is warmed up and the thermostat trips before the bread has begun what’s known as the “Maillard reaction,” which gives the browning of foods their ’toasted’ flavor. If you want very slightly browned toast with a regular toaster, you pretty much must hover and peer down at the toast and cancel the toasting when you think you’ve detected that it has begun browning; forget that business with the Toasty One.
As can be seen in the accompanying photo, the consistency from the first slice, through the second, to a third slice yields exceptionally consistent results.
A second wonderful thing about the Toasty One is its touchscreen interface is super intuitive; you don’t have to look at the manual or ask your 5th-grade granddaughter to get it going.
And a third wonderful thing about this toaster is the outside stays cool to the touch, even after a long consecutive series of toastings. Burning oneself on appliances is for the birds.
The operation is straightforward: Put in a piece of toast, press the ‘power’ button to bring it to life, adjust the slider if necessary (it usually won’t be), press ’START’, and the Toasty One slowly clamps down on the bread and gently lowers it. When done, it beeps and gently raises it.
It has super-wide openings that can brown hamburger buns… another nice feature.
There is only one shortcoming: If you alternate regularly from two-slice batches and one-slice batches, it is easy to accidentally leave the empty slot with a toasting setting (the slider set to anything more than full left). If you do so, both sides are glowing; the one with your toast will read 100% (its heating elements are turned off and the toast is ready to be lifted), but the empty slot is trying to do the impossible and toast air, so you must cancel the operation to get the Toasty One to dispense the goods. This is all born of another limitation of the Toasty One: It has only one lift mechanism, so if you have one side set to a light setting and the other dark, the ‘light’ slot will turn off but can’t lift until the darker slot is ready. Once you learn this little trick (if you have one piece of bread, make sure the other slot is set full-off), the Toasty One is THE way to get A) consistently made toast, and B) lightly browned toast, which is double-tough for ordinary toasters. Still, I see an opportunity for Tineco to improve the smarts of their Toasty One so if one slot has no bread in it, ignore that side; one would think that with a photo eye, there’s a way to pull that off… maybe not.

Nothing compares to the quality of this toaster. If you have one in your hands you know nothing compares to it. Nice on the countertop, unique, works wonderful(toast has a much nicer crunch to it, moist inside), just beautiful and built solid
But it is not just fluff this toaster performs awesome.
The optical sensor means the toast is perfect, I mean perfect, not close but identical time after time.
I bet you are thinking is toast that important and we thought the same thing but we have decided to us it is.
We love this toaster and would bite the bullet and buy again.
