    I’ve worn these boots for a lot of years and have never found anything warmer. They’re great for working outside in the cold or for just hiking the woodland trails when the thermometer drops. The waterproof foot will eventually build up moisture but that’s easily handled by removing the liners and letting them dry overnight. These have been hard to find locally so I was delighted to see them pop up here and especially pleased with the fast shipping. Go ahead. Order a pair. You deserve it!

    Sorel has long been known for their "snow pacs". They do not disappoint. Waterproof rubber base with Waterproof leather upper looks good and protects well. Thick felt liner is warm and comfortable. The traction pattern on the sole grips well in deep snow, packed snow, mud, and is flexible and comfortable on hard packed trails. Lighter than comparable winter boots, they can be worn all day without fatigue. D-ring lacing stays threaded and pulls tight quickly and easily without laborious relacing needed in other boot styles. A great buy for a boot rated to minus 40 degrees.

    As soon as you open the box, you notice that you purchased a great product. This boot comes with an inner liner that is nice and thick. I ordered mine at my exact shoe size (8). I read other reviews before I purchased too. My goal was to wear this boot with thicker socks. I have pure wool socks that are amazing that I can wear in this boot. Or I can just wear some regular cotton socks if it is not too cold outside. I do notice that when I first tried them on I did tighten the laces too tight and that became an uncomfortable wear experience. When I loosened them up, everything changed.

    These boots are nice and comfortable when they are laced up properly. They are built to last for many years. They have a thick liner for very cold weather. Although I have not been in subzero weather, you can tell that if you had silk socks and then covered them with wool socks, your feet would stay toasty in sub zero weather for a good while in these boots.

    I purchased these boots for daily use when there is snowy weather because I like to take walks in the snow and also I like to photograph in the snow too. I need a boot that has a good traction underneath because I want to avoid slipping when I'm out taking photos to avoid ruining expensive lenses. This boot is perfect for that purpose. The traction underneath is the very best for snow and the waterproofing is a must in the slush.

    These felt fairly warm and were pretty comfortable. I ordered two trying to solve the problem. Each boot, on the felt liner, had creases that were very uncomfortable. They cannot be stretched away and don’t go away. I wore them inside hoping the lining would smooth out but it never did. Both pairs. Sadly SOREL isn’t the quality it used to be. I have a pair from the mid 90s that are still in decent shape.

    Love Sorel Caribou, CLASSIC... they are not dainty, don't have this super custom fit, but if you live in the mtns....REAL MTNS and love the snow... you'll love these boots !! Especially for times when standing around in the snow and ice, like ice fishing... or if you're feet are in or under the snow all day.... not as thick of rubber as they used to be, but still great boots!! I have a kicking post, too knock off snow before I go inside, first time I did that broke the toenail on my big toe, definitely not as burly as past renditions, but still warm, great traction... could use the toe ring for shoes and other backcountry applications.

    I bought them 2 years ago, and have used them in very snowy winters. They are pretty warm for walking into heavy snow and completely water proof. When I don't use them, just put some shoe oil on them and then put in the shoe shelf. Up to today, no crack, or problem. If you walk in large piles of snow and tuck your legs into your boots, it's better to wear leg covers up on the opening of the boots. This covers the white furry rim (woolly liner) of the boots; doesn't let them get soaked. If that whitish area gets wet like by snow, the water goes down into your boot. This bothers you in the very cold weather. In the last winter, I went on making snowman for a couple of times and spent about 7 hours standing into snow (the height was a bit over my knees).... no cold, no leakage I felt. The bulky shape of the boots makes some room which gives a nice insulation. This helps to keep the feet and toes warm enough.
    Cons: 1. They are heavy! 2. They are perfect in snow,,, but not good at all for walking on icy surface. The boots are slippery on the ice.

    Update in January 2022: after 5 years, the boots are quite fine and work well.

    I wear a size 9 in athletic shoes and a 9.5 in dress shoes. After some careful thought, I chose to go with a size 9 in these boots. Much to my delight, it fit like an old worn glove! I couldn't believe how comfortable they were. The boots were really warm as well. (I put on some midweight thickness, merino wool socks while trying them on.)

    It's true that I may not be able to take these out on a hiking trip, because it was a little hard to walk in them, at first. But since I live in NYC, I rarely go hiking anyways. I only intend to use these boots for shoveling snow, and, or going around town for simple chores. Furthermore, temperatures here during the winter rarely falls below zero, and snow rarely piles up more than a foot, so these boots are perfect for me.

    Knowing that Sorel no longer manufactures boots in Canada, I was worried if there were any defects. But much to my delight, I didn't find anything wrong. However, I will update this review after I have worn and tested them out on a snowy day. Stay tuned ... But as of now, five stars.

    Originally ordered my normal size, EU 46 and they were huge. Marked as EU 46 / UK 12 / US 13 this suggests that the non-EU sizing is more accurate. Replaced with EU45 and the fit is much better but they are still a big boot, very wide.

    With the right size these are great winter boots, excellent in fresh and compacted snow they, like many boots struggle with ice. Their width makes fitting aftermarket studs that fit over the boot with a rubber harness tricky, the ones I have tried slip off the boot easily. They are very warm with the supplied boot liner.

    There is not much support for the foot, this is partly to the width of the boot and partly the softness of the materials used. Other winter wellington boots I have tried offer more foot support but are not as warm or do not have the same grip.

    Tested so far at -12 Celsius. Happy feet.
