About this item
- YOUR GO-TO DUTCH OVEN: A flawless pairing of form and function that doesn't quit. The Lodge Dutch Oven not only makes your kitchen look good but is an enameled cast iron classic great for preparing and serving memorable meals. Broil, braise, bake or roast your favorite meals in the oven up to 500 Degree F.
- WHAT IS PORCELAIN ENAMEL ON CAST IRON? It is glass that becomes bonded to the cast iron at high temperatures. A particulate of glass, called frit, is applied to the cast iron vessel and then baked at temperatures between 1200 and 1400° F. The glass frit melts and fuses to the cast iron, forming a bond. Porcelain enamel on cast iron is heat tolerant and impervious to water and other consumables.
- EASY TO COOK AND CLEAN: The porcelain enameled interior has a smooth finish that minimizes sticking, promotes caramelization and resists staining. Although enameled cast iron is dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water and a nylon scrub brush is recommended to keep your Dutch Oven in tip top shape!
- HEAT RETENTION: The cast iron vessel has superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating throughout both the bottom and sidewalls. The tightly fitting lid seals in moisture for scrumptious pot roast, stews or a large batch of beans. Our heat retention also reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking.
- FAMILY-OWNED. Lodge is more than just a business; it’s a family. The Lodge family founded the company in 1896, and they still own it today. From environmental responsibility to community development, their heads and hearts are rooted in America. Products made with non-toxic, PFOA & PTFE free material.

Product Description
This 6-Quart enamel Dutch oven is great for cooking, marinating, refrigeration and freezing. The color porcelain enamel on cast iron can be used on gas, electric, ceramic and induction cooktops, as well as in the oven. Not recommended for use on outdoor grills or over open outdoor flames. Not for use in microwaves. Lodge Color Porcelain Enamel on Cast Iron cookware is cast from molten iron in individual sand molds. The porcelain surface eliminates the need to season cast iron. The cast iron vessel has superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating bottom sidewalls and even the lid. Tightly fitting lid seals in moisture. The excellent heat retention reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking. Two layers of very hard, glossy porcelain enamel are chip resistant and easy to clean. Stainless steel lid knob is oven safe to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The black rim on the pot is matte porcelain, not exposed cast iron. Hygienic porcelain enamel is non-reactive with food. Although dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the cookware's original appearance. Made in China.

Customers find the Dutch oven cooks evenly and is particularly good for baking sourdough bread, with an enameled finish that has held up beautifully over three years of use. Moreover, they appreciate its amazing color options, easy cleaning, and good value for money. - Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2025Color: Midnight ChromeVerified PurchaseAmazing DO. If you've spent hours scouring sales thinking you need to own a European brand to yield great results, consider this review your green light to purchase this much more economical version. Fantastic little piece of equipment! I own several other cast iron Lodge products, from camping gear to everyday practical use skillets, and it's just a hardy brand. Give this Dutch Oven a try and if you find that you keep cooking with it and desire more, then spend the big bucks on a fancier make. Chances are likely that once you begin to use it and improve your cooking skills, you won't find the need to drop extra cash on a sleeker product. **Personally, I love the Midnight Chrome color, which also happened to be the least expensive at the time I purchased. It's truly beautiful and looks modern enough for my kitchen!**
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2025Color: BlueVerified PurchaseExcellent quality Dutch oven. We liked ours so much that we bought a second one to gift away. Ours looks as new as the day we bought it, enamel it’s still in good shape and no rusting visible anywhere. Capacity is exactly what we need for soups, stews and more.
Would buy a third time without hesitation!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2025I have purchased three consecutive Lodge dutch ovens, and am very satisfied with the quality of them. The colors are vibrant and pretty. I use these almost every day, and because of heavy use I get discoloration of the enamel inside and out, and chips in the enamel mostly at the edge where the lid lands on the pot. When they get unsightly, I buy a new one in a different color. The 6.5 quart was my last purchase, and it’s a little large for day to day. I am going to try the cast iron double Dutch oven next and see how that holds up. I’ve been baking bread and think it may hold up to higher temperatures better. Highly recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2025Color: EvergreenVerified PurchaseI have a whole collection of Lodge enameled cast iron (from 1 1/2 quarts to 7 1/2 quarts) in assorted colors and stored in two Lodge iron pot stands. The pots are very accessible, useful, and decorative on the stands. I have cooked many things in all of the pots and am pleased with my colorful collection.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2025Color: EvergreenVerified PurchaseI have yet to cook in this pot, but its condition is perfect. No defects whatsoever. Love it, Lodge!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is now my favorite pot
Color: IndigoVerified PurchaseI have a cheap stove, so it's not easily possible to stew things at lower temperature with regular pots. The heat dissipates too quickly, so it just stops simmering. Not with this pot: It has amazing heat retention, so it has become indispensable since I bought it. It is extremely heavy though, which is to be expected by such a large mass of cast iron. Maybe it can double as a makeshift bomb shelter in a pinch.
I guess any dutch oven has to measure up to Le Creuset, which I don't personally have any experience with. However, I can see that the Le Creuset costs at least twice as much on Amazon. I doubt that it can be twice as good because this pot is damn near perfect. At 6 liters, it is a bit too big for two people, but that's hardly Lodge's fault.
Only disadvantage to me is that the lid edges are kind of rough so they feel like unglazed terra cotta. That means that putting the lid on, taking it off, or moving it makes a scraping sound which I personally hate more than nails on a chalkboard. Fortunately, the lid is very heavy as well so it's not like you move it around too much.
I'm kind of blindly rating its taste though. I have not tried eating it because I find cast iron too hard to chew, but I have to assume it's delicious.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Cast Iron Dutch Oven!
Color: Island Spice RedVerified PurchaseFinally bought a big enamel dutch oven that's affordable, well made and very good looking!
I put 3 whole chicken leg (about 300gm each), 4 thighs (about 600gm), 4 chicken wings (about 600gm), 2 onions, and 4 packets of brown shimeiji mushrooms into the 6-quart dutch oven and baked them in an oven. The meat turned out really well. They were soft and juicy and the whole family loved it.
The next time I cook this dish, I will experiment with shorter baking time & lower temperature.
