I’ve been waking up for years coughing in the morning. I keep an immaculate house, but I would wake up every single morning with a stuffy nose and coughing matter what. I bought this Dyson thinking that I was really going out on a limb and spending a lot of money for a stupid reason, but I was I wrong as it turns out this is all but alleviated my coughing and sneezing and wheezing that I’ve suffered for years with. I had no idea this could make such a difference in my life. I also don’t like gizmos and gadgets so nobody is more surprised than me. That said, one of my favorite features of this item is that you can set it to auto and it will sense when the quality of the room air drops and automatically turn itself on to the lowest speed needed to clean the air in the room, I keep it running in my bedroom pretty much 24 seven now and when it runs all the time it barely needs to run the fan. By using it that way it’s almost silent when running all day. I’ll be buying one from my office and I intend when I can afford it to get another one for my living room. The other nice thing about them is that the design is really unobtrusive anyway, this is definitely a five-star item, and I hate to say this, but well worth the price.

Sleek, smart and kind of weak
First off this is a nice looking fan. The bladeless technology is impressive, and it isn’t an eye sore like conventional oscillating fans. It also oscillates which a lot of tower fans do not because of stability issues, so that’s a nice touch. Setup was easy, it came in two pieces, attach top to bottom and plug in. Ours is the “Smart” model that has an accompanying app and can also be paired with both Google and Alexa. From unboxing to giving voice commands through Alexa was about 7-8 minutes, so needless to say setup shouldn’t pose many issues and unlike similar pairing processes I had zero issues. The app is pretty basic and easy to navigate, within it you can turn the Dyson on/off, set speed, toggle oscillation, check air temp and quality and order a new filter for the built in air purifier. The fan does feel good, but even at it’s highest setting I can barely feel it about 10 feet away, and because I am always hot and we got it to combat our stuffy living room we will likely use higher settings so it also is a little loud, not like conventional fans but noticeable. The controller must be aimed directly at the vicinity of the power button which is located at the very bottom of the fan, so if anything obstructs it the controller is useless. Since I have the app and voice command functionality this isn’t such a big deal but absent of those features the controller would be frustrating to say the least, I’m surprised with such an expensive fan from such an innovative company that the controller is so flawed in its design, even our $35 fan has a controller that works from any direction, come on Dyson! In summary, if you want something sleek that will blend in and with smart settings can be easy to control, but don’t mind that it’s not the most powerful fan on the market then this is for you. It looks cool, works well and if the controller worked better and it was a little more powerful it would easily get 5 stars, instead: 4/5.
