UPDATE
Four years later: I have hauled this suitcase all over and it's holding up like a champion. It fits in international overhead bins for the most part (but not the smaller, regional flight bins, so you may have to gate-check it for puddle-jumper flights). It's collected a few scratches from being stuffed into luggage compartments and dragged over cobblestone streets, but the hardware is all still tight, the wheels keep turning smoothly, and the zippers & handles are still very secure. It expands nicely and the color makes it easy to spot on a luggage claim turnstile.

This fits perfectly into the domestic United carryon bin. I haven't tried to fly internationally with it, but it's smaller than my old international carryon, so i don't anticipate any problems.
The handle extends easily, and it's super easy to walk it through the airport. The wheels swivel in just the right way to push or guide it along with only minimal pressure. I especially appreciate the handle on the side, which makes loading it into an overhead bin very easy. I was able to pack for a solid week's holiday with plenty of room for dirty laundry and souvenirs. It feels quite sturdy, and I'm expecting to get many great trips out of it.
