How can a tiny cold spot on my wrist/forearm stop the hot flashes I have been battling for years? This is crazy! I have been on estradiol hrt patches for too long, and have tried to taper off -- reducing stregth and adding menopause relief supplements (estroven, amberen ...) with no relief until now.
I was skeptical and figured I'd try it for a couple of weeks and return it. I won't be doing that!!
It was charged when it arrived so I read the very short and simple printed instructions and put it on. At the onset of a hot flash I double tapped the little button on the left for cooling. Immediate waves of delicious iciness kicked in. At first it was a little confusing. I felt I was kind of having a hot flash but was distracted by that wonderful cold feeling. At the time I thought wow, if I had one of these on each limb, and on a necklace and a belt -- this could work. I continued throughout the day using it. When I downloaded the app and looked at the options I decided I better charge it so I could use the All Night Session.
That's when I realized IT REALLY IS WORKING because I had another hotflash without the embrwave2 on and I felt a desperate need to run and get it off the charger and back on my wrist.
I have been using it for 5 days and 4 nights now.
The downside is that it doesn't feel great to have it positioned above my wrist, but the band does keep it securely positioned in place. That is small price to pay for the relief from the torment of hotflashes though, so I unreservedly give the embrwave2 5 stars!
Lol this may work through some kind of self hypnosis. I am one of those people who can't be hypnotized BUT I think for me this works because I become so fixated on the icy sensation that my mind overrides the hot flash. I really don't care if it's a placebo or if there is a real physiological basis - it works for me.*
*After using embrwave2 for about 6 or 7 weeks I need to add to this review. It DOES WORK just as I described above. The problem lies in the 'All Night Session' which is a programmable setting using the app. This session is supposed to deliver a milder 7-9 hour cooling session to alleviate hot flashes that wake you up. It only works for ME for about 4 hours, and unfortunately my 4-5:00 am hotflash still disrupts my sleep. After much contact with customer support it was determined the embrwave2 is still functioning properly. The problem was not a battery issue, it is a self protection mode to keep it from overheating, so it shuts itself off. There are suggestions to keep that from happening; not being fastened too tight, keep it out from under covers ... but those didn't work for me. All that said, I just skip the all night session and tap the button when I need. It does not overheat and shut down just from wearing it all night, it's just when it's programmed for the 'all night' session.

This really does work. It’s fantastic.
I was very skeptical on buying this cause it is expensive but I don’t regret it at all now it has been the best thing ever so I have hot flashes a lot because of hormone imbalance and this is saved my life the really really bad ones so it’s only going to cool you down 5° difference But it makes it enough to where you’re not totally miserable and the shorter little options make the cooling sensation waves happen a little quicker and it’s amazing it works. I was very skeptical because there are a lot of reviews that say oh this doesn’t work and then there are a lot of reviews that say this does work. It’s like 50-50 but I think it’s 5060 now and it definitely works Because it’s definitely I would recommend it. I love mine now if you’re working out and you want something to keep you cool that way take a fan cause this isn’t gonna cut it but if you’re hot all the time from hot flashes or night sweats this will definitely help.

I bought this to help manage my menopause hot flashes at night, but I ended up wearing it all day and night. The battery life has been impressive— I click the preset buttons when I need it and haven’t used the all-night setting. It’s definitely improved my sleep quality. I also love the warming setting! I’ve used it while outside in cold weather, and it provides a cozy, comfortable warmth—temperature level 3 is plenty warm for me.
The highest cool setting could be even colder for my liking, but being in menopause, I’m not sure anything would feel cold enough! 😄
The app is easy to use and quite helpful, especially when it comes to adjusting the button presets. I didn’t grant full permissions, so I don’t have access to all of the "Learn" section, but so far, I haven’t felt the need for it. I can track my usage, which is interesting to see, especially during the night.
As for the band, I struggled with the metal band that came with it. It constantly snagged on my clothes and wasn’t very comfortable. I ordered the comfort band from Embr Labs, but unfortunately, that wasn’t a great fit either—it would feel too tight and the velcro closure wasn’t easy to adjust. After some searching, I found a soft, stretchy 18mm braided watch band on Amazon (2 for $15) that works much better! The listing didn’t say it was compatible with the Embr Wave, but it works perfectly (it said it was compatible with the Garmin Venu -though I’m not sure what that is). Now, I can easily switch which arm I wear it on, even in the middle of the night.
I also bought the comfort bumper case from Embr Labs, which I’m happy with. When the unit is on the cooling setting, the outside can get warm (which makes sense), but it can feel counterproductive when you’re trying to cool down. The bumper has helped solve this issue.
This was a big investment for me, so I did my research, read a lot of reviews, and waited for a Black Friday sale before making the purchase. I can honestly say I’d be lost without it now—I’ve grown quite attached to this little but powerful device. This could be a game-changer for so many people with all kinds of different needs, though I do wish it were more affordable because I’d love to buy one for all my family and friends!
