Well, it's finally happened. I've reached the point in life where I've fallen head over heels in love with a kitchen tool.
Before you shake your head sadly and scroll on by, lamenting the loss of another middle-aged woman to the trappings of domesticity, allow me to reassure you that my passion is well founded. This is a sturdy, excellent tool that far exceeded my expectations in this grasping modern age of cheap construct for a quick buck.
The plastic is smooth and sturdy and thick, not flimsy in any way. The little rubber feet on the container part of the kit actually do work to keep sliding to a minimum. The easily inserted/removed grating plates stay put but pop right out with almost no pressure. They are sharp and make clean cuts. The grated material actually stays in the container. This thing is a bloody miracle. It really works.
I've had a few different sets that come with a container, but they cracked or grew brittle with use. Oxo products dont do that. I balked for a very long time at a $30 price tag on a grating set, but when I discovered that I had some unexpected cash back on a credit card, I applied it towards this set and it wound up only costing me five bucks out of pocket, so I went for it.
It's totally worth the 30 bucks, people. If you cook and you rely on really good tools you can use and clean easily over and over again, Oxo does not disappoint. Theyre routinely at the highest price point, but their stuff is buy-once, last-forever quality, so you really can't blame them. You have to pay for stuff that lasts for 20 years, right?
Great purchase, and I do not regret it. Highly recommended. And now I'll never need another grating set!

Very sharp blades
I really liked the idea of having a nice case and various plates to grate, slice and shred. However, catch bowl/measuring cup has a lip which is problematic. When you slide a vegetable it hits the lip smashing the veg slightly and preventing a smooth cut. If you are thinly slicing a zucchini for instance where you need long strips for a particular recipe you are out of luck. I added a photo but not sure if you can fully see the remnant veg debris on the lip. In addition the grip for the veg isn't strong and doesn't really grip even when you dig the prongs into the veg causing a pattern on your vegetable. Then again, the short cuts and the polka dot patterns on your vegetables isn't the worst of the problems. Because of the lip and the grip not being all that it should, when slicing or grating or shredding, the vegetable tends to move and when it does you WILL lose pieces of your finger. I used this contraption a few times each time thinking I will take care, go slower etc. and each time I cut myself badly. My husband thought it was just me but he cut himself too. It was so bad I had to update my fingerprint id for my phone. When I take this out of the cupboard, my dogs freak out jump and knock it out of my hands. I will say if you use the graters without attaching them into the measuring cup/bowl thing, you can grate cheese.

I needed a cheese grater so I took to a graters review on google to help in my decision. This was listed as a top pick. I like how it comes with storage and the lid can be used to hold whatever you're grating/slicing up. It's very convenient. You want convenience when you're in the kitchen working against the clock. It comes with four different graters/slicers. They are all easy to handle and can actually fit horizontally on the storage lid when in use. The different surfaces are color coded and the whole set is easy to clean.
So far, I've only used the large (coarse) grater surface for cheese. It took me a minute to get my bearings but afterwards, it made grating cheese an easy feat. It even has measurements on the lid so you can see how much you have grated. I like it!! I can't wait to use the other surfaces in my kitchen endeavors. I consider this a good buy and definitely recommend it if you're on the fence.
