My Cell Phone Wi-Fi Calling Works Now

My Cell Phone Wi-Fi Calling Works Now
My ISP's Wireless Modem doesn't have the greatest built in wireless Wi-Fi, and I depend on it to use Wi-Fi calling on our cell phones since we don't have good cell service where we live. With my ISP's Wi-Fi, I get dropped calls, missed calls and sometimes can't even call out, plus texting (especially when trying to send a picture) would constantly fail. I tried other AP units, one even costing over $300 and it still didn't improve our Wi-Fi calling.I seen this EERO 6 Mesh system and started researching it and watching videos, so I thought I'd try it out. When I got it, I couldn't get the app to recognize it at all. Well, stupid me (being a retired I.T. guy for over 40 years) I purchased just the EERO Extender and not the Modem. So don't do what I did! - LOLAfter educating myself, I bought the EERO Modem package that came with the Modem and one Extender (but kept the Extender I originally bought) and now the app recognized it. But I must say, this has got to be the easiest installation I've seen, and the app works great! And in a few minutes you're up and running. The (now 2) Extenders I have were very easy to set up also and I'm glad I kept the original one I purchased because I needed it in another part of my house. Now for the best part, our Wi-Fi calling and texting on our cell phones works great! I dedicated this EERO system just for our cell phones and use the ISP's wireless for everything else! If you have a senecio like mine with using Wi-Fi calling on your cell phones, then this EERO 6 Mesh system could be the answer. It worked for me and I highly recommend it!

The Amazon eero 6 mesh Wi-Fi system has been a fantastic upgrade for extending the range of our home network. With the 2-pack (one router and one extender), it easily covers our entire 3,000 sq. ft. home, eliminating dead zones we previously had. The connection is solid and supports speeds up to 500 Mbps, which is more than enough for all our streaming, gaming, and work-from-home needs.

Setup was quick and simple using the eero app, and it seamlessly integrates with Alexa for easy control. The system is compact and unobtrusive, blending well with the home decor.

If you're looking for an easy way to boost your Wi-Fi coverage and improve connectivity throughout your home, this is an excellent choice. Highly recommend!

I originally had a Google Wifi (wifi5) and it was time to consider for an upgrade as I felt like I was needing to add more access points to maintain the speed around the house. I tried quite a variety of wifi6 brands (Tplink deco, and Netgear nighthhawk) and they all had their shortcomings and I was not going to pay $299 for the new Nest Wifi 6E, so as my last resort I said let me try the Eero since already being in the Amazon echo system. I was quite shocked how easy it was to set this up, and I love the clean lines and size of the units as you can display them on any counter or hide them if you don't want to see it. The app was quite easy on the eyes and gives you features that are important. I didn't really have a need to for their "subscription" features as I was just looking for a Wifi6 system that was reliable and gave me good coverage. With this system to cover about (1400 sq ft) I only needed a router + repeater (which claims to cover up to 3000 sq ft) which pretty much doubled my speeds that I was getting before in every area of the home. Imagine with Google Wifi I needed (3) of them just to keep up with coverage. I had issues with some older devices that only work with 2.4 Ghz, but the app under "troubleshooting" has a feature where you can "pause" 5 Ghz so you can give your legacy device a chance to connect with 2.4 Ghz first and then once connected resume 5 Ghz features. The ones I got were "dual band" which honestly was enough for me. If you can afford it, go for the "tri band" which gives you that extra channel so the units have a dedicated channel to communicate with one another. I mean for a 1400 sq ft, a dual band system works perfectly fine, but if you go larger square footage or a lot of dead zones is when you might consider tri-band. Again Eero is not meant for "advanced" users, so if you are looking to tweak or do extra things out of the ordinary of the normal use look at TP-Link or Asus, but this just works if you want something that you hook up and works very reliably. I have not needed to reach out to support yet so I can't vouch for that, but whenever I had glitches here and there I was able to figure it out myself by rebooting the router or googling for additional features to enable.

This was a great investment for me, I have a 2 floor house, not terribly big, sitting downstairs was ok, but at night or weekends when I sit on the couch upstairs, my speed was pretty slow and at times crawling, with the eero router my speed is blazing fast. I put the router downstairs and the extender upstairs, as you can see from the images, the speed is day and night. I do have a WiFi 6 NIC in my laptop so that might be a factor as well.

The one thing that is disappointing to me, and it made me consider buying other routers because of it, is the fact that they charge a subscription for the security features, I am not going to spend on the subscription as I use opendns for content filtering and activity monitoring (I know their are advantages of doing it on the router...) and there are free/cheaper alternatives to the products offered with secure plus subscription, but I just don't like when a company charges you for something that is included with other routers for free, it's just a turn off to me, but ultimately this product was the best bang for the buck, especially with Black Friday and trade-in discounts.

Highly recommended if you want a fast, solid, easy to setup mesh system. If you want to have the features that needs the subscription I would recommend to buy a router that includes it for free..

One final word, I considered to purchase the Pro but the cost is considerably more and I'm happy I didn't spend that money, not sure what more I could've gotten with it, my speed and coverage are both more than enough and my ISP gives me 300MBps so can't make use of the Pro speed anyway. As for the future investment, Wifi 7 is on the way and we may just use the cellular network one day... until then I am more than ok with the speed this mesh router is giving me.
