    Music Great! Everything Else Terrible!

    by Tammy on 6/16/23

We purchased general admission plus, which was a joke and we would love our money back. We took the LONG walk to the stage which was covered and sat where we wanted JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. So why did we pay extra? Then to add insult to injury, all of the MAIN performances that we wanted to see (Isleys, black thought, busta, Lauryn, usher, etc) were at a completely different stage in a completely different area of the park with no cover and no seats. The upgrade was advertised as if we were getting covered reserved seating (row and seat numbers were on our tickets). Expectations were completely wrong! Thank God the performances were great - which is why I gave it two stars instead of one. At least allow for beach chairs so we can enjoy the day without standing for hours. I can’t imagine sitting on a blanket for the whole day - maybe for the young ones, but for the ones that made these groups who they are today—>our backs and butts don’t work like that! Just saying! Think about the fans and not only about your pockets!

Thank you to the Roots and Dunkin☺️

    by Bri on 6/6/23

We were pleased with the whole weekend experience, I had such a beautiful black ass time. The performance were literally once in a lifetime! Eve, Ron Isley, The Fugees, Busta, City Girls, Glo, Jasmine, USHER!!! During the festival the lineup was incredible and everyone was really kind and mindful of each others little blanket set up, so the vibes were great. The bathrooms and food lines were similar to any festival so not idea, but acceptable. And the sponsored brunch was amazing! Good food, free drinks, funny people and a little gift bag. Thank you Dunkin and The Roots. I almost didn’t make it but I’m so happy I did.

    General Plus is a joke

    by Faye on 6/4/23

Couldn't upgrade my ticket at the gate... was told to buy a new ticket instead. The General Admission Plus ticket makes no sense. The area is far away from everything WITH NO VIEW OF ANY STAGE and up a bunch of flights of stairs. I wish that I could tell you what the perks were but it wasn't convenient to even truly find out.

    Rip off

    by Terri j on 6/3/23

We paid for AGA plus and was under the impression that we would have special seating to see the show. We had to walk up a thousands of steps and it was off to the side. I didn't even put a new contact with a small TV. I would like to see the supervisor and get my money back or upgrade us to the VIP section. I should of paid regular admission.

    VIP was missing so much.

by VON on 9/18/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

Access to the Fairmount Park Stage Gold Lounge featuring private complimentary bars, twice complimentary food pop-ups & daily complimentary mixology demos with sampling*. - The asterisk was attached to no further info. The private bartenders were great. The Ciroc was watered down(there is no way I wasn't plastered as much as I drank and I'm not a drinker). The tequila wasn't as much either. The complimentary food pop-up was from a vegan sponsor that took forever to get prepared, was very meager (considering the amount of people in VIP), and tasted horrible. The mixology demos never happened. Access to a VIP only general admission pit and also to an elevated viewing platform area for the main stage (Fairmount Park Stage) - Great. It got extremely crowded in Gold later in the evening. Uncomfortably crowded to were we couldn't see the stage at all and people were hovering over you. More seating please. But it is really viewing the performers from the side and having to watch them from the monitors to see them fully. My neck was aching, by day two, from turning look at a screen. The people on the lawn, on the pit, and in ADA had a better view. Speaking of ADA, I'm ADA (hearing and physical) but I spent the extra money out of fear of discomfort. My fears were valid. While there was prime spots for the ADA, it was in the blazing sun, without a covering, not being allowed an umbrella, left in the Sun for 45 minutes waiting for a ticket scanner the first day, and contending with one person and the multiple people with them for entry. Parking was perfect though. Access to the Acclaim Lounge with private full service CASHLESS bars & drink specials - Where was that? Or was it by VIP Silver? It wasn't very clear. VIP Silver was mad trash. TRASH! I saw a lot silver people in the Gold area. Access to air-conditioned VIP flushing bathrooms (Fairmount Prk Stage & Podcast Stage) - On point. Access to exclusive VIP food vendor offerings for purchase - Ummmm. The vendor was not a VIP food vendor if you have the same vendor with the same food all over the park. The only thing special was that we didn't have to leave the area. But we did because the food was subpar. The lemonades were the highlight and they were watered down severely the next day. Speaking of vendors, since the pads for ordering were controlled by the event planners (the company name was up and down my statement), it would be nice that they have them on time as well. One restaurant, we fancied, had to wait 20 minutes after opening for a pad. The line was ridiculous. Access to mobile charging stations - Where? VIP fast lane entry into the event - Fair Commemorative VIP laminate - Got it On-site concierge with complimentary festival must-haves - Oh. The girls with Rap snacks and other incidentals. I'll give you that. It went extremely fast. Would I do VIP again? Only because my child requested that we do. Was it worth almost $500 a day? Not to me.

    Horrible Would Not Recommend

by Hanna on 7/24/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

Everything was so disorganized which caused severe delays. Food stands were severely understaffed. Artist had mics that didn’t work. Sets were hours behind schedule. It was so hot and you couldn’t even get water in a reasonable amount of time. Finally artists were removed from the schedule but there was no notice that went out about this. I’d rather go to philly and just skip roots picnic next time

    Not very enjoyable

by ABGI on 7/7/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

I expected this two day festival to be very enjoyable but it was not. The most disappointing part was the set times being 2+ hours behind schedule. I’m not sure what the issue was, but considering this concert has been happening for seven years now, There should have been minimal issues. I would also say there was definitely overcrowding. Having the two stages was nog set up very well either. I’ve been up there festivals and they were set up and ran much better than this festival. I wouldn’t recommend anyone attend this to be honest. I enjoyed the few acts that I did see.

Great Vibes, Too Many Technical Issues

by Cha-Pie on 6/29/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

Overall the experience was great. I was very disappointed with the sound quality of many of the big performers & also the camera crew that were working the stage. At times we couldn’t hear or see the artist that we came for. Another major concern was the schedule. Both days the performances were more than 2 hours behind & my group drove from NY & NC to be there. Definitely worth the money to see so many acts perform in one space but without those above issues the event would have been next level.

I had an absolute horrible experience

by Tyrell on 6/27/22TD Pavilion at the Mann - Philadelphia

I never am the type to leave a review but this was my first roots picnic and my experience wound up being horrible until the last minute. I purchased my tickets through Ticketmaster using the pay in 4 service, the payment was withdrawn but upon attempting to enter the event there was no evidence of me ever having tickets although I had a following up email showing my order number and poke to a representative that gave me a payment receipt# which wound up being useless because the representatives blamed each other’s company for the error. I wound up having to pay full price on the last day of the event 4 hours after it started to finally see the remains of the show. I wished my experience was better because I love love love music and that picnic looked like it could have been an amazing experience.
