Vinyl LP pressing. 2022 release. Fear of the Dawn is the fourth studio album from Jack White, founding member of The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and The Dead Weather. True to his DIY roots, this record was recorded at White's Third Man Studio throughout 2021, mastered by Third Man Mastering.

Vinyl way too heavy for turntable.
5 Stars
Vinyl way too heavy for turntable.
This 180 gram LP was so heavy that I gravitated toward the masterfully crafted tracks. As someone said, it loses steam... err, weight near the end of the album. The high density rock tracks of the beginning turn into an airy and lightweight/jamming set of tracks. Overall, this album re-ignited my flame for the genre.Hopefully it's far too heavy for your turntable as well. In fact, I guarantee it.

After 25 years, Dr. White is still creating in his laboratory. This is to be celebrated and worth stopping in every few years to keep in touch with one of the few enduring musical treasures of the 21st century. Yes, some of the bold fuzzy chords and attitude will transport you back to earlier works...it's HIS style, regardless of how broad the boundaries you fence it in with.

Side One is generally enjoyable, White Raven struck me, Taking Me Back seeming elementary White, and Hi-De-Ho just not being my bag. Side Two is much more cohesive with the twin gems at the end Morning, Noon and Night and Shedding My Velvet leaving you satisfied. The album is polished, sonically pretty and clean, peppered with striking interludes of impressive fretwork. It's not quite Lazretto or Blunderbuss, but not far off either, it will grow on you (don't they all). Thanks Mr. White!

My first Jack White album at 62 and the sound is incredible on my Polk/Alpine car stereo system with subs cranked to half volume and it's still loud! This is how Black Sabbath's guitars should've sounded. Monster rock guitar without mercy.

I can't get pass track one "Taking Me Back" because it's the best out of the bunch with that monster kick drum, fuzz guitar and gorgeous trill flourishes in reverb. I think I've played "Taking Me Back " about ten times now. Damn! It' so cathartic cranked up driving down the highway with the windows down.

Jack White needs to do more of this style in "Taking Me Back". I'm sure it's a hit by now. Already heard it used in a hockey commercial.

The rest of the album is quirky and original to round out as a worthy CD album similar to Grammy winning albums like Beck's "Odelay" and Flaming Lip's "At War With The Mystics"-in particular the song "It Over Takes Me".

This is the best music I've ever heard from Jack White. You can hear elements of many of his earlier recordings, but this is so sharp and keen you may cut your ears on it. Definitely playing it loud these days, so that may be the cause of the bleeding ears. Nevertheless, no JW collection will be complete without this. Love it.

Great Lp w/ lyric sheet and a couple other cool inserts, my gal loves it

I love the slight variation in styles here, but am happy to see him seemingly have fun with one or two he didn't quite try yet (to my knowledge. Long time White Stripes fan so...
I love tracks 2, 3 6 and 8, but the album is overall great.

Jack's first solo album in three years proves to be his best work yet. As a long-time fan, I kind of found his solo work to be hit and miss. Fear Of The Dawn is definitely the most cohesive album he has ever put out. It's the kind of album that I genuinely can listen to from start to finish and start the loop all over again. This one is by far my favorite of his solo work (Fear Of The Dawn, Blunderbuss, Lazaretto, Boarding House Reach).
