I purchased the ticket to see Fireboy, so I really thought this would be a good mix of AfroCarib music. It was a good concert in the sense that it appeared organized and so forth, the vibe was good, and everyone enjoyed themselves. However, it felt more like a Jamaican/Reggae concert, they did have a Latin band that performed in the beginning that was good and a Haitian artist where I heard both, but besides that every other artist was Jamaica, which is not a bad thing, just an observation. Even during the intermission time they played 99% reggae music, 1 soca song I heard, song by Kes the Band - Hello, and 2 Kreyol songs, but no AfroBeats until the featured artist was to play and that was near 1 a.m. The evening was going well except for the fact that they were running behind schedule/late and you could feel it. The featured artist did not come on until 1 a.m., little playing time and they could not get his music to play in the background for him to perform, the sound was not coming out, he had to sing acapella, he really tried and so did his band, but he was only able to sing 3 or 4 songs and then the concert ended, yet Tony Rebel and Kabaka Pyramid who preceded him, were on stage for what seemed like forever with multiple songs played. The implementation on timing and transition with respect to time between the various artist performing toward the evening was not good, seemed like they were stalling for time because Tony Rebel's set went on forever before they changed the band for the next set who appeared late. By the time Fireboy came on, more than 75% of the audience was gone. How do you have an AfroCarib festival with 1 Afro artist with no playing time. This is my view and perspective on this. My friends and I ended up rocking to Fireboy songs in our car on the way home at 2 a.m.
