Big Thief on Tour

Big Thief, the group known for uniquely soft and vulnerable folk-rock, hit the road for their 2022 tour celebrating the release of their latest album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You. With a style that draws comparisons to Phoebe Bridgers, Stevie Nicks, alt-J, and Fleet Foxes, the group is best known for the hit single "Paul," a phenomenally composed and equally sad song about an estranged lover trying to get back into your life. The song quickly amassed more than 55 million streams on Spotify and catapulted the group's 2016 debut album, Masterpiece, into underground fame in the indie community, leading to stops at South by Southwest and a live performance on "Late Night with Seth Meyers." The group followed up their debut a year later with Capacity, which peaked at No. 15 on Billboard's Americana/Folk Albums chart. Fans praise Big Thieff's live acoustics, calling the performance "absolutely fantastic" and "one of the best shows I've ever been to." Tickets are selling fast, so get yours to see Big Thief today.

Big Thief Live in Concert

Assembled in 2015 in the borough of Brooklyn by Adrianne Lenker and Buck Meek, Big Thief is a four-piece folk-rock band that also features Max Oleartchik and James Krivchenia. The group has released five studio albums in six years, charting in nine different countries, including reaching No. 1 on Billboard's Americana/Folk Albums chart for their 2022 release, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You. The album also hit the Top 40 on the Billboard 200. Lenker is originally a native of Minnesota who learned music at an early age from her father. At age 12, she knew she wanted to pursue music as a passion and career. She attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and met Meek, a fellow alumnus, and the two kindred spirits formed a powerful relationship both on and off stage. The two wed and divorced shortly after, but still remain bandmates and self-described "deep friends."

Amazing performance by a band at their peak

    by The Shah on 8/14/23

A really wonderful show. I have not seen a show that so seamlessly blends the opener (Lucinda Williams) with the headliner (Big Thief). Big Thief was absolutely masterful. The songwriting was on full display as was the talented musicianship. Adrienne Lenker was mesmerizing - what a triple threat as a songwriter, singer, and guitar player. My only issue is that this venue (Greek Theater) has a very strict curfew. The set felt like it should have been longer. The band also stopped several times to address youngsters in the pit that were over served - which easily cut 2-3 tracks worth of time that band could have been performing. Another reason I am not a fan of all ages shows.

    Beautiful Night Under the Stars

    by LolaB18 on 8/11/23

Lucinda Williams and Big Thief put on a heck of a show! Lucinda played with her long-time bandmates, including Butch Norton and Doug Pettibone. Having had a serious stroke, she can no longer play the guitar, but she can still sing like crazy. She was inspirational, showing us all that even after a set back, you can fill a stadium, especially teaming up with a newer, and quite awesome band like Big Thief. I came to see Lucinda, but Big Thief was spectacular too. They have a range of music from songs with a slight Country music influence, to songs with a down-right Punk edge. Seeing Lucinda sing and play with the younger lead singer of Big Theif (Adrianne Lenker) was magical. It was a beautiful night in Berkeley. Not too cold, great crowd. Watching two strong women share the stage -- one 70 years old and the other born in 1991 -- that was a night that won't ever be repeated!

    Lucinda?

    by Greg on 8/11/23

Many people felt this was billed as Lucinda Williams as headliner, not opener for Big Thief. Big Thirf was fine, and Lucinda was limited bc of her stroke, but this was disappointing for many.

My 20-year-old daughter wanted to see Big Thief and I was excited to see Lucinda Williams. Intergenerational catharsis! I fell in love with Big Thief, and it warmed my heart to see how much they loved Lucinda.

I knew a lot about Lucinda Williams-who is a legend, but little about Big Thief. Wow! Wow! Wow! I am now a very excited fan. Warm & Cozy

    by moodybrooder on 8/11/23

Big Thief & Lucinda Williams at the Greek Theatre was like a warm hug on a chilly, outdoor evening. From where we were sitting... we could see Sather Tower, The Bay Bridge, and Adrianne Lenker slow dancing with their partner backstage while Lucinda Williams played Fruits of My Labor. The crowd was adorable. The songs were adorable. The atmosphere just felt like gentle care. I will remember this show for a long time.
