As a brew method the extraction is really good. The resulting beverage is full of flavor and has minimal if any grit as a rule. Clean up is low mess (just pop the grounds out). It's incredibly easy to clean and works well for travel. As long as you have hot water and ground coffee you can easily make delicious coffee anywhere. Here we use it to prep cold coffee for the fridge every week and it turns out great. I've been really happy with the purchase. I roast coffee as a hobby and have been very impressed with the results of this product as well as the ease of use and care.

This is without a doubt the best coffee maker I've ever used. Every coffee brewing method produces different results: I've used french presses, espresso machines of various qualities, a moka pot, pour over cones with paper and gold filters, pour over phins, a few drip machines, etc etc. I'd say the Aeropress produces results most similar to a moka - approaching the strength of an espresso shot, but in slightly larger volume, and unable to exert the same pressure as an espresso machine. Alternatively you can compare it to the results of a french press, however the included paper filters are much more thorough than typical french press filters, so you don't have the same murkiness to the coffee, and it'll be a bit stronger. If you're after the murkiness there are a number of aftermarket metal filters for the Aeropress, one of which may or may not give you the results you're looking for.

If you're looking for a substitute espresso, you'll have passable results, and certainly better than a budget espresso maker. Adding a bit of steamed milk will get you a delicious, if not really authentic, latte or cappuccino. Where the Aeropress really shines though is making coffee Americano style - adding hot water to your shot. This will result in what most of us would consider "a cup of coffee". The initial shot is concentrated enough that it takes a fair amount of water before you end up with watery coffee.

What makes the Aeropress my go-to coffee making method is the speed and ease. We tend to stay in bed as long as possible, meaning there's a lot of multitasking in the kitchen before heading to work. The coffee takes about 30-60 seconds of attention once you're proficient at the Aeropress, only a little bit more than a K-Cup machine. You don't have the issue of continuously adding a bit more water as with a pour over, or the risk of adding too much and overflowing your cup. You only need about 30 seconds actual brewing time, much less than with a french press, and I've found that the margin for producing good results are much larger than with a french press. Your only wait time is for your water to heat, and that 30 seconds for brewing, much less than with a drip machine. Cleanup is quick and simple, unscrew the filter cap, push the plunger the last half inch to pop the puck of grounds and paper filter into the trash, pull out the plunger, rinse, set out to dry. No plastic trash like a K-Cup, the filter has less paper than a half dozen of any other filter I've seen.

Personally I prefer the Inverted Method, rather than the one written in the included book. I find it easier and a bit less messy. If you're using the inverted method here's a tip: use the included funnel when adding grounds, if they get around where the filter cap screws in you'll have a hard time getting it all the way in. Also, if you're making the full capacity of the Aeropress add a little bit of water, stir, then add more water - otherwise you'll be trying to stir while the coffee blooms and making a mess.

Now, for the few minor cons:
- There is some variation in opacity of the plastic. Most marketing photos show clear or nearly clear. It seems like most people these days end up with dark, smoke colored plastic. This can make it difficult to see where your plunger is for measuring the amount of water you're adding unless you're in a brightly lit room. I haven't found this to be too much of an annoyance, but some do. You may be able to find a seller who's stock is the clear variety.
- Amount of coffee. At the most the Aeropress produces enough coffee to fill a standard coffee mug most of the way. For a single person, if you're adding hot water, this will fill a travel mug or a large coffee cup. You can split one press between two people for two medium cups of coffee - I like to use the carafe from my french press for this. More then two people? Now you'll need to start making coffee in batches. This gets a little bit tedious, so I end up just reaching for the french press. If there were a Jumbo Aeropress, I'd be first in line to buy it.
- You'll probably spill a little bit of coffee. The design of the filter cap means that coffee drips out of the bottom, and a little shoots off to the side. If your mug is only just wider than the filter cap, or has an uneven top, a few drops may splash over the side. The funnel can help with this. After you're done pressing, the Aeropress will probably still be dripping a little. Most coffee making methods have a possibility of slight spillage, so this isn't anything new, just don't make your coffee on top of important documents, and wipe the outside and bottom of your mug if necessary.

Incredibly rich and creamy coffee

I cannot imagine having my coffee any other way anymore! I use the Aeropress to make a blonde roast espresso beverage in the mornings for high caffeine content kick-in-the-face. I must say, I am impressed by how the coffee turns out every time. Although it’s not the same as making an espresso shot from a professional 15 or 20 bar machine, it gets pretty close! The coffee always comes out very smooth, rich and creamy — which I rarely find from espresso machines. I would prefer my Aeropress over a professional machine any day.

It’s a bit of a challenge trying to get the crema right and it’s taken me a lot of trial and error with the metal filter and the flow control cap, but it’s not impossible. Of course, the crema is not the same as shots from a professional machine, but I’ve found that tamping the grinds inside of the chamber and filtering with the metal filter and flow control cap work really well. You’ll need a fairly longer tamper, and you’ll need to add a bit of pressure to get the coffee and crema through, but you end up with great espresso-like shots every time.

Overall, it is very easy to clean. I rinse and store after every use, and then I chuck it into my dishwasher at the end of every week. We also have a small espresso machine, but I’ve found that to be tedious to clean and very noisy to use, so I opt for using the Aeropress instead. It’s simple to use, has a sleek design so it doesn’t take up too much storage space, and it produces amazing quality coffee. I’ve since ditched my French press, pour over, and my De’Longhi manual 15 bar espresso machine all in favour of this quick and easy-to-use and contraption!

Vengo de espresso y V60. La facilidad de usar el AeroPress, es algo notable y espectacular. Sobretodo porque saca una taza deliciosa de café. Más fuerte que un V60, pero con menos intensidad de un espresso (esto ya dependerá de las recetas que uses).

El amplio repertorio de recetas para este método hace que puedas estar jugando y sacando distintas tazas, al final para que no sientas “monotonía” con siempre tomar lo mismo (si eso llega a ser un factor para ti). Pero también siempre sacando tazas constantes y ricas usando tu receta preferida.
100% debe estar en todo hogar que tome café.

Mucho mejor de lo que esperaba.

Usarla para preparar café es muy sencillo. A pesar de su simplicidad, permite preparar el café de diversas maneras. Mención especial al diseño general tanto de la Aeropress como de los accesorios incluidos, que entre su simplicidad, se nota que fueron muy bien pensados para cumplir su cometido casi a la perfección.
Ya viene con filtros incluidos, los cuales, aunque tenía mis dudas, sí que se pueden reutilizar algunas veces sin alterar el sabor del café — y comprar adicionales es relativamente barato. Limpiarla también es muy sencillo y rápido. Y ciertamente es algo más “portátil” que otras cafeteras.

Aunque se puede preparar un buen café, solo se puede avanzar hasta cierto punto, y, a pesar de lo que indica el título de esta publicación, difícilmente se lograra un café tipo “espresso” o similares que requieran de máquinas avanzadas para lograr el nivel de extracción requerido. Pero me parece un muy pequeño precio a pagar a cambio de la simplicidad que ofrece, y del buen café que de todos modos se puede lograr.

Otro defecto, al menos en mi caso, es que el “tubo” exterior de la Aeropress venía con un pequeño defecto estético, que la hace parecer como si tuviera una pequeña mancha en el interior (incluso me hizo pensar que recibí una unidad usada y que no había sido lavada de manera correcta). Este defecto no afecta en nada a la extracción, y no es algo que me importe demasiado; pero a personas que quieran tener la Aeropress en un lugar visible, sí que podría importarles si recibieran una unidad con el mismo defecto.

Sin duda he quedado gratamente sorprendido con este producto.

Me acaba de cambiar mi vida. Llevaba bastante tiempo que no me terminaba de convencer la cafetera italiana, me faltaba algo, tras leer mucho decidí probar por el método aeropress. La aeropress te permite Hacer el café diario en la mitad de tiempo y poder personalizarlo, por lo que cada día es un nuevo café si así lo deseas. No puede ser más fácil de usar y de limpiar y no puede tener un resultado mejor. Gran sabor, lleno de matices y aromas si usas un buen café y lo mueles diariamente. Aún así ,moliendo el café, sigues ganando tiempo y resultado final que poner la cafetera. Para mí, la Aeropress está muy por encima de la cafetera italiana de toda la vida.

I am not sure if I can list any negatives to Aeropress. I cannot think of any, since the alternative to this is either a Moka-pot or the expensive Espresso machines.

Except maybe the price which could have been lower considering it is made out of food-grade plastic. But then, when you consider the alternatives, can you really complain about the price?

The only thing suggestion about this product, are other products. Which are, use a decent brand/batch of beans & a kettle which shows the boiling water temps. For coffee beans, start with low quantity packaging first, so even if you don't like a taste, you won't have to tolerate drinking it for long. Medium roasts work best for Indian taste pallettes.
