The touch-free feature is a game-changer, especially in today's hygiene-conscious environment. With just a wave of the hand, the dispenser delivers a perfect portion of soup without any mess or fuss. It's not only convenient but also promotes a hygienic dining experience, which is essential, especially when hosting guests.
The rechargeable aspect adds to its convenience, eliminating the need for constant battery replacements. Plus, the sleek design adds a touch of elegance to any dining table or buffet spread, earning compliments from guests.
But what truly sets this dispenser apart is its performance. The precise portion control ensures that each serving is consistent, while the smooth operation keeps things flowing seamlessly during mealtime. Whether hosting a dinner party or simply enjoying a cozy meal at home, this dispenser adds an element of sophistication and practicality.
In conclusion, the Touch-Free Rechargeable Soup Dispenser is nothing short of amazing. It's a versatile addition to any kitchen or dining area, making mealtime effortless and enjoyable for both hosts and guests alike. If you're looking to elevate your dining experience, I highly recommend giving this product a try.
But the Simplehuman customer support was easy to work with and I was able to send the old one back (for no cost) and get a replacement. Meanwhile, because this process took some time, I actually just bought another one in the interim, and that one worked fine off the bat. I ended up giving the second one to my mother and it has changed her life, like my first automatic dispenser changed mine.
I had a previous version of this soap dispenser from simplehuman. It lasted for 5+ years, although the battery had issues after the first year I think, and I had to use a portable waterproof battery attached to it to charge it (whereafter it would stay charged for like 3 months). I got the soap dispenser for DISH SOAP in the kitchen, so I can hold the pot handle with my left hand, hold the scrub brush or sponge with my right hand, and get soap on my sponge without interrupting my cleaning flow.
It's the best thing ever. Trust me. Completely worth the cost.
So, what about this new one? I find the sensor more sensitive than the older model. It doesn't recognize the black parts of my dish brush which is funny. It also dispenses based on distance from the top, which is cool, but if the sensor is having trouble you have to go right up to it and end up with the least amount of soap dispensed (which is usually sufficient). (The older model you set the amount of soap period.)
It's hard to see how much soap is left in the thing. But it looks REALLY nice so I let that slide.
The charging plug is a special type of charger. That's REALLY irritating if you, say, lose it. You can't replace it with any micro-usb cord, you HAVE to use their special charger. Luckily, it is the same charger between their liquid soap and their foam soap pumps. I have both, so I ended up with an extra cord, so when my mother misplaced hers, I was able to give her my extra cord.
It has its quirks. But after a LOT of research, I found the Simplehuman dispenser to be the ONLY automatic dispenser that actually looks nice. All the rest are UGLY. The ones that look ok, take a look at their size—they are HUGE. This one is rather slim. Plus the rose gold is gorgeous. And ALL automatic soap dispensers have negative reviews because they all have their issues. My experience with simplehuman is that if there is a problem, they will solve it, and once it's solved, you don't need help again for years.
Yes, my other model eventually died. Yes, they seem expensive at $50 or $60. But that's only about $10 a year if it lasts 5 years. That's like a couple coffees or lunch at Panda Express. WORTH IT.
I've had it since April (8 months) and had no problems. Love it every day.

I've had it since April (8 months) and had no problems. Love it every day.
FIRST: if you're looking to use soap other than Simple Human's refills, you very much can. The trick is to make sure it's not too runny and not too thick. I've got a digital scale at home that measures down to the gram, and I've found the following mix ratio useful:
205g Target's house brand Up & Up Aloe Vera moisturizing hand soap (64 oz)
26g water.
To mix, start with the soap, then put in the water. This is important because the feed tube for the dispenser draws from the bottom, and you don't want half of the water to drain into the feed tube before it gets mixed with the soap. This will fill the dispenser to about the point in the product image. Then cap it and gently rock the dispenser back and forth 10 or 20 times until the water is distributed throughout the soap.
Why do I tell you the soap type? Because every soap is different, and I've found that the viscosity of the mix you make is VERY sensitive to the ratio. Take this mix as a starting-point recommendation, and feel free to share your experience in the comments. I suspect soap temperature will affect the thickness too, so if you keep your house warmer or cooler than mine (74-76 in the summer) you might have to adjust by a gram or two of water. This particular soap and water combo has worked well for me across four dispensers. Too thick or thin and it won't come away from the dispensing tip completely, then it will dry on and you have to clean it off.
If you make your soap too thick, or if you don't use it every once in a while, the soap at the nozzle will dry up and then the dispenser won't work. The beauty of these things is you can take them apart pretty easily to fix that. A philips screw or two and you've got the innards exposed (be careful not to pull the wires loose from between the parts, or you'll have some soldering to do!). The tube that feeds the nozzle is just friction mounted to the nozzle itself, so it's easy to separate them, run hot water through the tube and nozzle, stick a toothpick or something softer in to clear any gummy soap. I had to do this for one I put away for a few months.
Finally, I had one other of the recurring problems mentioned: one of my dispensers started spitting out soap randomly. It would happen as soon as I walked into the bathroom and keep going at 5 second intervals. It took me a while to realize it was because one of my compact fluorescent light bulbs was on the fritz, and was messing with the sensor. It wouldn't happen unless the lights were on, and the sun was down (such that the primary light source for the dispenser was this futzy fluorescent). After I replaced the bulb, the ghost dispensing stopped.

Motion censoring works well. You need to put your hand up closer to the disowning area to activate so no constant accidentally triggering it, unlike some other brands. The see through soap holder is a nice feature so you know when it’s getting low. Easy and wide opening for refilling. It has an adjustable soap flow button so you can adjust it whether it dispenses small or larger amounts, which is good as some soaks don’t lather as much so you may want to adjust it for more. It also has an off feature which I use while cleaning the sink area and dispenser so I don’t accidentally trigger the soap. Handy, tidy, functional and well worth buying a quality name brand. We also bought the solid chrome one for the kitchen. Pleased with both purchases.
