Caring for your molds:
Prolonged exposure to temperatures exceeding approximately 145º F may irreversibly deform the molds. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may induce stress cracking.
LDPE may be susceptible to stress cracking when exposed to ultraviolet light and some chemicals. Wetting agents such as detergents may accelerate stress cracking.
For best results, we recommend hand washing our molds using normal dish washing detergents, avoiding abrasive type scouring pads. LDPE can be susceptible to scratching which may complicate unmolding.
A few tips when working with our molds. Pack the details first then the rest of the mold. A recipe rich in oils is your friend! Here is the one we use if you would like to try it!
Vacuum Formed Molds Recipe:
500 grams baking soda
250 grams citric acid
20 grams Cream of Tarter
5 grams of SLSA (optional)
35-40 grams light oil. I prefer avocado
3-4 grams poly
10 grams fragrance
Mix all dry ingredients together and add to mixing bowl.
Mix oil, poly and fragrance. Whip till emulsified.
Add your wet ingredients slowly to your dry. I let my Kitchenaide do all the work for me.
Last step. Add 1-2 teaspoons of distilled water as your binder. Do your drop test. Your mix needs to hold together. Too dry your bombs will not release from the mold.
