Great all around boot
2 years later and a dozen strenuous hikes later these boots are still solid. Snowy mountains, summer desert and rocky terrain and these have never let me down. I knocked off a star because the insole it comes with is rubbish and had to invest a further $20 or so on another hiking insole with arch support and shock absorption. They stay warm in the snow and don’t overheat in the summer heat. Will buy again when these fall apart eventually. Aside from the insole they are solid!

My first set was a birthday present in 2020 and this set was a Christmas present in 2022 (that I asked for by name). The first set finally bit the dust and, after all the abuse I dished out, I can still fully recommend these shoes. I walk 1.5-4 miles through dewy grass every morning; often with mud caked on or deep puddles to tromp through. I wore them at work as a full-time caretaker for the elderly and disabled where I had an average of 18k steps per day. By the end of that 30-month lifespan of the first pair, I had worn them out and the leather started cracking, the soles came loose, and I often got debris inside the shoe via the gap in the sole.

The comfort is top notch and comes just shy of a sneaker. My feet never hurt; even after the longest days. Unless I sweat for hours on end, they never smell. (a few squirts of baby powder once a week helps with that) My previous hiking boots were Salomon brand and they lasted only six months when subjected to this abuse. They were just as comfortable, mind you, but they didn't hold up to my everyday habits. By month seven, they were too far gone to even be used as yard mowing shoes.

With my new pair of Merrell from this order, I am protecting them more closely than the last. I bought a pair of $20 Walmart shoes for my morning dog walks and let them suffer the brunt of my damage while this wonderful set keeps me attractive and cozy while doing my job. I do miss the comfort while trekking through the weeds each morning, but this set has done nearly 18 months without a lick of damage so far and I want to keep it that way. To any of you who are as active as myself, you must admit, a pair of shoes lasting two years is often the limit. For a set of shoes as nice as this, I'd rather their lifespan of comfort and functionality be spread out during my stressful moments; not the dirty ones. Therefor, I wear them while I tend to the helpless and less fortunate at my job, including doctor's meetings, surgeries, and at-home wound care.

If you're buying these from Amazon here, then keep in mind: The color you choose might cost or save you 40% or more. I got lucky and got the second pair for much less than the first. Even though they were gifts, I knew the price of each.

Got these shoes for Iceland and they were perfect. Great fit and my feet felt great. Never felt unstable in any of the hiking I did (both on ice and rock). Feet remained dry the entire time.

I have had these for almost 3 years now, and I have hiked over 200 miles in them. They have held up very well. I haven't worn them in deep water, but they have stayed dry through the small puddles. I wore them while hiking over huge boulders, and they had great traction. My feet didn't slip at all.

I LOVE these boots. This is my 4th pair. I put over 1500 miles on one pair doing long distance hikes. Great product. Great value. Unfortunately the laces failed the 2nd time I wore my latest ones. Easy to fix. Buy more laces. Wish this wasn't necessary. Could be problematic on a long hike.

I was back and forth about paying more getting the more expensive pair but I'm 320lbs pretty hard on boots and walk 10k plus steps daily. These are excellent, fit true to size, comfy.

These are my....eighth? Tenth? Not sure any more. I wear nothing but Merrell Moabs for work (retail management), and have for the last decade. All have run true to size, all have needed no break-in, comfortable out of the box. And I *use* them. 23k steps on my Fitbit for today as I write this, a typical day which isn't over yet. 50 miles a week, 2500 miles a year, all of it on concrete or pavement. I get 2-3 years out of a pair, and usually have a pair of low-rise Vents for summer and Mid Waterproof for winter. They offer great traction on even wet concrete, and (important to me) are completely noiseless.

Your feet are not my feet, to be sure. My stride is very neutral, and if neutral is your gig (I wear and love Brooks Ghosts for summer recreational walking) you owe it to yourself to try Moabs. I am certainly not buying any other while Merrell continues making them like this.

This is, in my opinion, the very best hiking boot out there. It's super light, solid, well-built, grippy and durable. Perfect for any kind of hiking, from weekend outings to full-blown adventures. I finished a full "Tour du Mont Blanc" (all the Alp summits circling Switzerland, France and Italy) wearing my original Moabs in about 7 days without a single blister and never getting my feet wet. I'm never buying any other model, if Merrell can only keep making it!
