This is not a typical umbrella, even unlike the more expensive "golf" umbrellas, like the Callaway Golf 68" Tour Authentic Umbrella. This Blunt umbrella appears to go the extra mile in making it windproof and sturdy. Notice in the pics the ribs have reinforced hinges. The ribs do not just slide into plastic tips on the points of the umbrella fabric. They are actually sewn into a pocket and also have a spring that tensions the rib against the pocket so that it cannot poke through and is always tensioned correctly. The umbrella cover is not the typical, thin nylon cover. It's a sturdy fabric that fits well over the closed umbrella nicely.The one and only complaint I have about this umbrella is that there is no venting at the center to allow air to blow through from underneath. Many times when using an umbrella like this, it has blown out of my hands or turned inside out because the wind pushes with full force against the 'sail' of the open umbrella. So I think this Blunt umbrella could be improved with some venting at the center.

This is the best umbrella I've ever held. I did a direct comparison with the $150 DavekNY Duet, and hand-down, I'd take this Blunt any day over the Davek. I could not get the Blunt to invert by shaking it/sharply pulling it towards me to create wind resistance. I tried, for probably a solid 2 minutes, until I got lightheaded and decided to stop.

I like to go storm chasing, so this now lives by the door to get me to my car and on the road, and then dry-ish during who-knows-what kind of weather I might encounter. (I say dry-ish because there's only so much you can do with an umbrella when the wind is blowing sideways and you're wading through near-flood-levels of water.)

I live in a location of the United States that gets daily drenching downpours with accompanying wind. I also have to walk quite a ways outside from the parking lot at my work, which was absolutely miserable in the rainy season until I found this umbrella. This thing is a beast. One of my favorite parts is the umbrella holder that comes with a shoulder strap. So, when it's not raining, I can just sling the whole thing over my shoulder instead of having to carry the umbrella in my hand. It is a little on the expensive side, but I put an apple air tag on it to prevent losing it.

Now for the 'less blunt' part about the Blunt Sport umbrella:

As a very casual golfer (I don't go every weekend, but maybe once every month or so), I've had some nice golf umbrellas over the years. In fact, my favorite came with my TaylorMade clubs (it matches them) and stays attached to my bag. But as a bigger guy, I prefer larger golf-sized umbrellas over those dinky little collapsible pop-out things. Those just never seem to hold up. But as someone who works occasionally in a downtown urban area where there are a LOT of tall buildings, I can also tell you stories about the umbrella graveyards I've seen -- trash cans filled with them on a windy day. It can be quite funny, actually. My current umbrella for work and other use was too small, and my bigger (non-golfing) one is dingy and falling apart.

Given that, I was really happy to acquire this Blunt windproof sport umbrella!! The sizeable 58" canopy is awesome and gives me way more coverage than a pop-out. And two people fit quite comfortably -- nothing is more awkward than walking to coffee with a co-worker and having to share a dinky umbrella. Yeah, I'm the guy walking down the sidewalk with the giant umbrella... sue me. I'm dry and you're not. One thing that I like about this umbrella for downtown use is the rounded edges. No points means no poking people in the eyes!

When they say this umbrella is perfect for golf, they aren't joking. If you are a frequent golfer, you'll understand the value of a good umbrella. And since you are also oftentimes out in very windy conditions, it's important that it's large enough to deflect the angled rain and wind. This thing will stand up to the wind and will last. And this is indeed built to last... I've never seen an umbrella with this kind of construction. This umbrella is definitely 'engineered'. They didn't just make it stronger, they redesigned how it works. That said, I am a bit surprised this does not have some kind of wind vent (or double canopy), though, which would keep it from becoming a big kite. While not common on golf umbrellas, it would be nice if this had a wrist strap just in case. But this umbrella is designed to be flatter and more aerodynamic vs something you hide inside.

While it may seem like a lot to give for an umbrella, which is usually a $30-75 purchase, you'll buy 6 of those before you need to replace this one. The Blunt comes with a really nice carrying case/bag, which is a nice extra. Although not stated on Amazon, the Blunt umbrella comes with a two-year global warranty, in which they will repair your umbrella if needed. If this is still just too much for an umbrella, and you're an avid golfer, perhaps consider comparable options like the Weatherman, DaveK NY, GustBuster, or ShedRain Vortex. But certainly do not rule out the Blunt, as it's a quality product that thoughtfully designed, which seems more rare in today's world.
