    3 weeks ago I ordered an Onyx Boox Note Air 4c, which was great, but didn’t deliver the whole experience I was expecting; it had a lot of features and possibilities to explode, but weren’t well integrated at all. I decided to return it and give Remarkable a chance. I’m not going back. You can feel the the tremendous jump in quality and technology integration. I’ve been using a Supernote A6x for about 3 years, and now that I’ve tested Boox , I can say there is no point of return now. I can now fully understand why so many people gravitates to this brand and its “No distraction” philosophy: It’s really THE BEST WRITING EXPERIENCE. I prefer the look of the colors that the Gallery 3 panel offers, rather than the Canvas display; they look more punchier. If your passion is writing and drawing and love premium quality experiences, this is the right choice for you. You won’t regret it. I’m in Mexico. The package arrived 3 days earlier than the estimated. I would recommend some folio alternatives if you want to save some money, because de accessories are very expensive.

      The ReMarkable is a superb product for what I need it for, a simple, digital pad. Easy to edit, easy to use and reliable. It's not fast. It's not fancy. And (thankfully) it's not connected to the internet. For me, the biggest win is that I can focus when I'm using the reMarkable because I can "quickly" jump on a browser or get a Instagram update, which takes me away from my focus time.

      It's been a great tool for me and my workflow.

      First of all, this is NOT a tablet that you might be used to. It has no browser, no apps. It is a dedicated device to facilitate a unique style of writing into paper, but wait, it is not paper, it is e-paper, but it feels like paper.
      It is a color device and this technology has some limitations when compared to a black and white eNotebook: It has to refresh more often and it is a bit darker when there is no backlight. But it has colors, and this is a capability that is not present in a black and white device, by definition. The constant refresh will stay there forever, and one gets use to it, but Remarkable responded to the users and released a new beta firmware that enhances the backlite, enough for me to decide to keep this device. I was concerned with the lack of brightness, but this new firmware really solved it, to the point I do not use it on the maximum setting anymore. All in all, my first eNotebook is a Remarkable Paper Pro, and I am very happy with my choice. I considered the Remarkable 2, as well as other brands such as SuperNote and Boox. The color, look and feel, and the entire writing experience steered me towards the Remarkable Paper Pro.

      UPDATE:

      I have returned the item 8 DAYS ago, the item was received at return center the very next day. However, my refund has yet to be issued, just still stuck under “item received” status. The refund issue date that was originally for tomorrow was changed to end of NEXT WEEK, which would put me ant almost THREE WEEKS since I physically returned the item. Not to mention the time it’ll take to actually credit back to my card. Absolutely absurd. Seriously, avoid at all costs.

      I wanted to love this. I was so excited for it. I’m a student and after a lot of research I felt this would be the best tablet to keep me organized but needed it quickly. I received the item in a timely manner, but it has been a disaster. Immediately upon opening the product, it looked and felt amazing, high quality, well built. However, when I turned it on, it took FOREVER to load/turn on. Then, when it finally turned on, it wasn’t recognizing the marker that came with it for set up. Weird, but will skip that part for now. Then it got to the part of connecting to wifi but it didn’t recognize a single network. Again, weird, but I’ll move on and come back to it. I created a passcode. Then it displayed a “corrupted disk” display and that is all it has done since. I have tried clicking the repair button that is provided on the same screen, multiple times, no luck. I tried manually turning it on and off. I tried letting it charge fully, and I even went to the website and followed the steps of a software restore, still didn’t work even though it got to the last step. Finally, I contacted the manufacturer and they took almost an entire day to respond to each email, which is also a different person each time. They explained they would send a “replacement” in exchange but advised me to strictly avoid sending in anything aside from the tablet (no folio, marker, tips etc) because they will only send a replacement for the affected part (the tablet). Which would be fine, except this likely means I’d be receiving a refurbished tablet, not new and I did not pay almost $700 for refurbished. I even tried to work with Amazon instead for replacement but they said it would have to be through manufacturer. I’m sure the product in theory would’ve been great, but it has failed to meet my expectations despite my best efforts in trying to get it to work and even trying to get a replacement despite the poor first impression. Ill be returning and looking into something different, because spending HUNDREDS of dollars and having to experience a defective product on top of disorganized customer service is crazy.

      Save yourself the trouble

      UPDATE:

      I have returned the item 8 DAYS ago, the item was received at return center the very next day. However, my refund has yet to be issued, just still stuck under “item received” status. The refund issue date that was originally for tomorrow was changed to end of NEXT WEEK, which would put me ant almost THREE WEEKS since I physically returned the item. Not to mention the time it’ll take to actually credit back to my card. Absolutely absurd. Seriously, avoid at all costs.

      I wanted to love this. I was so excited for it. I’m a student and after a lot of research I felt this would be the best tablet to keep me organized but needed it quickly. I received the item in a timely manner, but it has been a disaster. Immediately upon opening the product, it looked and felt amazing, high quality, well built. However, when I turned it on, it took FOREVER to load/turn on. Then, when it finally turned on, it wasn’t recognizing the marker that came with it for set up. Weird, but will skip that part for now. Then it got to the part of connecting to wifi but it didn’t recognize a single network. Again, weird, but I’ll move on and come back to it. I created a passcode. Then it displayed a “corrupted disk” display and that is all it has done since. I have tried clicking the repair button that is provided on the same screen, multiple times, no luck. I tried manually turning it on and off. I tried letting it charge fully, and I even went to the website and followed the steps of a software restore, still didn’t work even though it got to the last step. Finally, I contacted the manufacturer and they took almost an entire day to respond to each email, which is also a different person each time. They explained they would send a “replacement” in exchange but advised me to strictly avoid sending in anything aside from the tablet (no folio, marker, tips etc) because they will only send a replacement for the affected part (the tablet). Which would be fine, except this likely means I’d be receiving a refurbished tablet, not new and I did not pay almost $700 for refurbished. I even tried to work with Amazon instead for replacement but they said it would have to be through manufacturer. I’m sure the product in theory would’ve been great, but it has failed to meet my expectations despite my best efforts in trying to get it to work and even trying to get a replacement despite the poor first impression. Ill be returning and looking into something different, because spending HUNDREDS of dollars and having to experience a defective product on top of disorganized customer service is crazy.

      First off, I love the actual device. The screen size is perfect; not too big like a 13.3" iPad, but also larger than typical 10" eink tablets and great for reading academic papers. The body is rigid and premium feeling, and the overall physical experience is very nice. I'm a little mixed on the pen being active and "proprietary", but at least the writing feel is excellent (though I am concerned on how fast the tips wear down). While the front light isn't the brightest, I feel that it's actually enough for me, since I only need it when the room gets a bit too dim, and it works great in that regard. The color is nice, though some may find it a bit too pastel and slow since the refresh rate of color is slower than B&W.

      What I don't like about the device though is how limiting its software is. No handwritten note searching. No support (yet) for many languages like Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, etc. Worst of all is the lack of "workflow" enhancements that make moving papers/documents between the device and others a pain. I read pdf's quite often, and the workflow of manually syncing these between devices and into my PDF library (Zotero) is very slow and annoying. I get that they want you to pay for their connect subscription, but so many competitors offer this functionality for free, and do it way better (BOOX for example has great Zotero integration).

      Overall if you want something that replaces a single notebook and does nothing else, this is perfect. However, if you need to do some actual "digital" work with it that forces you to leave the ecosystem, you might find it a little limiting.
