The WT2 Edge, being such a new item, I’ve only had a couple of days to use it and become acquainted with it. This is my experience with it so far. First of all, the packaging is beautiful. If you’re familiar with Apple products and their packaging, this rivals it.
The set-up was easy. Once I downloaded the timekettle app, it was very intuitive as to how it all got set up.
I wanted to be able to use the earbuds offline as well, so I was able to download the Chinese to English offline package. The actual way of doing it was different from what was written in the operating manual, but I was able to figure that out fairly quickly.
I love the new sleek look of both the container that the earbuds come in, and the earbuds themselves. The earbuds are smaller than the WT2 earbuds, and fit into the ear perfectly. I felt like I needed to wear the ear adaptor with the WT2 earbuds, but with these, they feel like they stay in the ear with no worries of them falling out. Very comfortable. You hardly notice they’re there.
I’ve only used the translation in the simul mode. And it works great!!! Previously, trying to communicate with a Chinese friend of mine, we’ve had to write out messages to each other letter by letter on a phone device. It was so laborious trying to have a conversation with each other. Having these earbuds feels like we’re talking in real time. There obviously is a slight second or two delay when translating, but compared to waiting for a written response, it feels like warp speed. I really feel like I’m having a natural conversation in real time with a person whose language I don’t understand at all, but with these earbuds, that is no longer a problem. We both understand each other perfectly. There were a couple of times when we spoke and no translation happened. Once we spoke up louder, the problem was solved.
What a great invention! Looking forward to the next opportunity to have another conversation with it.
