    fave pant, great new color - but has there been a fabric change?

    I started buying these pants in 2019 and have used them for work wear in a health clinic. They wear well, look great and super comfy!

    However, when I bought this gorgeous new color, Bosc, I too, like others here have noted, notice a pilling that has never happened before on previous pairs of these pants. None have pilled before the Bosc pair, which I purchased ~5 months ago and wear normally.

    has the fabric changed?? It must have b/c it is NOT wearing the same way.

    almost perfect

    i got these in black, bosc, and bone, and ended up returning bosc and bone because they were too sheer. i've also ordered these in small, medium, and large — i'm usually a small or medium in pants but i ended up returning those sizes and keeping the large because the small/mediums were too restrictive in the leg and i wanted a baggier fit. the size large waistband is a little big on me, but with the drawstring i can tighten them so they don't slip. so idk lol they're great pants, high quality and lightweight, suuuuuper stretchy and perfect for going on long walks when it's warm out.

    Pros and Cons

    I got these pants in Bone, and we (the pants and I) just got back from two weeks of traveling. Bone is a lovely color, and I liked the idea of having a "dressy" pant that was still durable and easy to wash out. The pants hit the mark on those points, and they were also very comfortable in a hot, muggy climate. Very attractive fit. But I am disappointed that the fabric snagged and pilled as badly as it did. All along my left hip where my cross-body bag rested. Very unattractive and all the more noticeable because of the color. Even in a dark color it would have been annoying, so I had to mark them down. I guess its a tradeoff for such a light, breathable fabric, but still a bummer.

    So disappointed!

    I was so excited when I first bought these pants (only 2 months ago, and my first purchase with OV), I thought they could function as my go-to hiking pants. Sadly, after only a few wears on 3-7 mile hikes the inner thighs are piling! I'm so disappointed in the quality. I have Zella and Old Navy pants that have stood up longer than the RecTreks. At this rate, they won't last more than a year of regular use before busting a seam in the thigh. I wish I could return them.

    I also bought a pair of Zephyr pants that I haven't worn yet. Given how the RecTreks went, I'm considering returning the Zephyrs.

    Anyone whose thighs touch, beware.

    Best pants ever that will eventually make you sad

    I love these pants and have ordered multiple pairs over the years. I’m disappointed that they have a known flaw that the designers haven’t fixed. After a few wears something strange happens on the front bottom of the pants in which it gets permanently “bunched?” near the shin area. If you read old reviews of the Rectrek you will see that many people have had this issue. Every time I order a new pair I’m hoping that the problem has been magically remedied.
