Specs: Capacity: 5,000mAh USB-C Input: 5V⎓3A / 9V⎓2A USB-C Output: 5V⎓3A / 9V⎓2.22A / 10V⎓2.25A Total Output: 18W Max Weight: 3.5 oz (100 g)

  • To estimate the number of charges: (Power Bank Capacity × 0.65) ÷ Device Battery Capacity. For example, a 5,000mAh power bank gives an iPhone 15 (3,877mAh) about 0.8 charges, and an iPhone 15 Pro Max (4,852mAh) about 0.64 charges.

  • To estimate charges, use this formula: (Power Bank Capacity × 0.65) ÷ Device Battery Capacity. For example, an iPhone 15 (3,877mAh) can receive about 0.8 charges, and an iPhone 15 Pro Max (4852mAh) about 0.64 charges from a 5,000mAh power bank.

  • To charge iPhones prior to the iPhone 15 series, an additional USB-C to Lightning cable is required (not included).

Pocket-sized battery, great to keep in a pocket or bag for emergencies
5 out of 5 stars
Pocket-sized battery, great to keep in a pocket or bag for emergencies
I see a bunch of one-star reviews, mostly from people who seem confused about battery capacity, energy, power, voltage, current, etc. People complain that this little pocket-size battery won’t fully charge their iPad. That’s like buying a little one-gallon gasoline can for emergencies, and then complaining that it when you poured it into your truck’s empty gasoline tank it didn’t fill the tank all the way to the top. The cell inside the Anker Nano Power Bank is advertised as having a capacity of 5000 mAh. That means the cell can (for example) supply 5 A for one hour, or 2.5 A for two hours, or 1 A for five hours. Battery engineers like talking about mAh because it is useful for their circuit designs, but for the rest of us it’s not very useful, because knowing the energy in 5000 mAh depends on knowing what voltage we are talking about. For end users, it is more useful to compare batteries based on the energy they store rather than the amount of current they use to deliver that energy. So that means talking about watt-hours (Wh) instead of mAh. For this battery the cell voltage is about 3.6 V, so 5000 mAh gives you 18 Wh. But phones aren’t designed to take power at 3.6 V. Phones require 5 V (or higher). Voltage conversion circuitry is not perfectly efficient. The text on the battery itself claims, “2600 mAh @ 5V x 2.4 A,” which means it can deliver 2.6 x 5  =  13 Wh of energy. This means that the voltage conversion circuitry inside the Anker Nano is about 72% efficient, so the 18 Wh at 3.6 V becomes 13 Wh at 5V (28% of the energy is wasted as heat). In practice, measuring a couple of Anker Nano Power Banks using a USB energy meter, I found they actually deliver 12 Wh (2.4 A @ 5V for one hour). 12 Wh is close to the 13 Wh that Anker claims, but not quite. My iPhone 15 Pro Max has a battery capacity of 17.32 Wh. Charging a battery is also not perfectly efficient — charging makes your phone get warm, and that heat is more wasted energy. If we assume that battery charging is also 72% efficient, then the 12 Wh from the Anker Nano becomes 8.64 Wh in the phone battery, or about half of the my iPhone 15 Pro Max battery capacity. In my experience the Anker Nano does indeed charge my phone from empty to around 50%. Because the Anker Nano supports USB C voltage negotiation, phones that support higher voltages can request up to 10V, allowing the Anker Nano supply up to 22 W for faster charging than a normal USB 5 V supply. The Anker Nano Power Bank is great for unplanned situations where you unexpectedly find your phone battery is drained. The Anker Nano is a small battery that easily fits in a pocket or a bag, and you don’t need to remember to carry a cable with it, because the built-in USB C plug connects directly to the device being charged. If you prefer to use a cable, it also has a USB C socket for that. Last year at the end of a day of skiing I found myself trapped for two hours in a broken-down gondola with four other people. All of their phone batteries were drained, and they were concerned about how they could tell their friends where they were. I pulled the little Anker Nano out of my pocket and passed it around. Within a few minutes everyone had charged their phone 10-15%, enough to call their friends and let them know what was happening.

I liked the design so much, I bought a second one plus another one with a Apple lightning jack. It's not meant to fully charge a phone, but provides enough of a charge to keep the phone usable until you get to your main charger. Compact enough to fit in a pocket and best of all it has a built in USB-C or Apple lightning jack so no need to carry wires with you. As with all Anker products, this looks well built with the jack flipping out of the way when not in use. It also charges the phone quickly with a 15W output (measured on my Motorola 5G phone). Note that the power bank can get a little warm while charging, enough that you probably won't put it in a pocket next to you skin while it is charging a phone.

It can recharge either with the USB-C port on the side OR via the same jack used for charging your device, which is really handy (again no wires required to charge the power bank when using the built-in jack). The one with the lightning jack can only be charged via the USB-C port and therefore would require a wire to recharge.

    Highly recommended.

Anker is my go-to brand for these power banks and cables. This one is awesome for two reasons - the size is perfect to stick in a pocket and carry around, and the built-in USB-C connector means no more worrying about cables.

It sort of extends the bottom of the phone when it's plugged in which makes it very easy to use the phone while charging it.

Of course, since it's small it has limited capacity, but it's enough to pretty much give me one full charge and that's all I really need routinely.

So I have a samsung s24. The battery on my phone is 4000 mwh this is rated at 5000 mwh so in theory it should go from 0 to100%. But it doesn't! It's cool they say it is more a top off charger. it worked well for that! I went form 17% to 89% within a little more than than a hour. Maybe 1.5 hours. The attached plug will not work with a otterbox case! But it does come with a c to c cable! So just bring the cable or take the case off! If you need it for a top up and, don't have a otterbox case I would recommend! It is small and easy to carry in a pocket. Or purses? Not much bigger than a ear bud case! My biggest problem with it is it won't fit the otterbox case! But that's a me issue and my case issue not the product! I recommend for what it is and what it's supposed to do!!!!

Pocket-sized battery, great to keep in a pocket or bag for emergencies

I see a bunch of one-star reviews, mostly from people who seem confused about battery capacity, energy, power, voltage, current, etc.

I’m a loyal anker customer. Their products are always of good quality from my experience. This is no exception either. So far the feel, look, and functionality are great. Personally got the pink color as a gift, and it looks great. The usb c connector switches in and out with ease. It’s small and charges the phone just like it is supposed to. I believe this power bank charges more than most for its size, but it’s not exactly a powerhouse meant to give you a full charge. Expect more like 50-60% for something around the same battery as an iPhone 15. If your looking more for convenience and small size, this is your go to.

I have purchased Anchor devices for many years with good results. I bought my first one like this and it stopped working in less than a year. I liked the size and convenience of putting it in my pocket or purse so purchased a replacement. Then I switched to a new iPhone and had to purchase another one. I am having problems with both of them staying connected to my phone if I carry the phone while it charges, other charger falls away from my phone. The newest one for my iphone16 barely charges up to 100 percent before the battery dies. I like the convenience, but I plan to try a different portable charger.
