So, I’ve ordered several cases to choose from. More than I’ll describe here. But the three leading ones were the body guardz, catalyst and sonix… this battle is hard. They all provide great protection, all are about the same size, all have the option to used with a wrist lanyard. Body guardz and catalyst both had directed speaker holes (this worked a way better on the body guardz, but if you are just interested in less holes on the bottom of the case that would run your pinky finger - these are both equally great), they also had more robust places where the lanyard attaches (the sonix had a hole on a soft rubbery part of the case, the other two on thicker plastic parts). The catalyst and sonix both had very comfortable photo camera button’s cut out, very easy to use that button if you take lots of photos and use settings..and the button is still protected. The body guards doesn’t have a comfy cut out and there is a rather sharp edge - it will hurt your finger to use the settings and switching between the modes doesn’t always work from the first try. Then I thought of keeping the catalyst case - but noticed that if I attach a ring grip/stand to it - the phone won’t stay flat because the opening for the charging cord is poking out on the bottom! Its so frustrating to discover! Like if I would be scrolling emails - the phone would fall down. The sonix - is a great case, but if you need a lanyard for safety when taking videos around water or in crowded places, I don’t know if I would 100% count of that rubbery part not to be broken by a lanyard, if the phone gets pulls or droops.
I want to cry you all .
About the materials - I don’t like full silicone cases and those that get dirty quick. In Florida heat it could be a case that doesn’t get yucky from sweaty hands. All three are great. The body guardz has a feel as a teflon pan, the crystalis is like silky fabric with texture to it, the sonix is smooth polished look but very high quality, neither of them feels like easy to get scratched..
