Product Description
The 8x32 TrailSeeker ED binocular provides high-level outdoor performance—a perfect compact ED binocular for avid birders, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts. TrailSeeker ED is packed with optical, mechanical, and ergonomic features that make it comparable to binoculars costing two to five times as much. Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass virtually eliminates chromatic aberration, also known as color fringing, a visual defect common in binoculars. TrailSeeker ED delivers edge-to-edge sharpness with excellent color correction and razor-sharp images. TrailSeeker ED also offers fully broadband multi-coated optics and phase- and dielectric-coated BaK-4 prisms. Taken together, these features maximize light transmission for the brightest, most detailed images possible. TrailSeeker ED is composed of lightweight and durable magnesium alloy. Its tough, rigid frame is coated with rubber to stand up to hard use in the field. What’s more, the binocular is fully waterproof and filled with dry nitrogen gas to prevent internal fogging of lenses. TrailSeeker ED includes both a neck strap and a carrying harness so you can choose the option that’s most comfortable for you. It’s also tripod adaptable, so you can mount it on any standard photographic tripod for extended viewing or digiscoping sessions. The binocular also includes a protective soft case for storage or transport.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2021Style: TrailSeeker ED 8X32Verified PurchaseI just completed hands-on comparisons of several binoculars. In the test group were (in order of my preference):
Celestron TrailSeeker ED 8x32
Carson TD-832ED 3D series 8x32
Athlon Midas UHD (ED) (non-G2) 8x42
Hawke Frontier HD X 8x32
Sightron Blue Sky II 8x32
Vortex Diamondback HD 8x32
Athlon Talos 8x32
Starting with the Athlon Talos 8x32: last place in no way means these are poor bins. In fact, I kept these - and I may get another pair for my wife. Considering the low price, these are excellent (brightness and sharpness were very good), well-constructed, wide FOV (field of view), a little chunky yet semi-compact binos. Plus, Athlon offers a worry-free, no-fault warranty. I'll keep these laying around the house or in the car.
The next three, Vortex Diamondback HD, Sightron Blue Sky II and Hawke Frontier HD X, showed me I can tell the difference between ED and non-ED glass, as none of these have ED glass and that's primarily why they finished behind the top three. My advice: pay extra to get ED glass. ... Of these three, I liked everything about the Hawke's.. smooth focus wheel, good balanced and tactile feel in the hand, excellent case and worry-free, no-fault warranty. With its ED glass, I'd be willing to bet the Frontier ED X (I reviewed the HD X) would be my top choice, but at $450, it broke my $300-ish spending limit. Same goes for the Vortex Viper: a step up from the Diamondback for sure, but at a much higher price. I couldn't decide which I liked better between the Blue Sky and Diamondback (Vortex has a better warranty), I liked them both, just not as much as the Hawke.
The Athlon Midas UHD (now offered in a "G2" version) is not made in 8x32, so it was a little unfair to include this 8x42 here, but it showed me that although the lower-light capabilities of a 42 are nice, they come with extra bulkiness and I needed a smaller unit because I travel with my binoculars four days out of the week. If I had a slightly more stationary lifestyle, I might opt for the 8x42 version from all of these companies (among bird watchers, 8x42 is the most popular choice). This is an excellent bino with a wide FOV. I can see why they earned Wirecutter's current top binocular choice.
Even so, I felt the Carson 3D 8x32 was better still, but only by a very small margin. I vacillated between the Midas and the Carson 3D, but the lighter weight Carson won out for second place on my list (if you can, do your own tests). The FOV is not as wide as the Midas (392ft vs 426ft), and that is a negative. Even though it was up against a 42, the Carson seemed equally bright (sharpness was good with both). And, like the Vortex, Hawke and Athlon, it too comes with a worry-free, no-fault warranty. With easy focus acquisition and excellent viewing image, it would have been my keeper had I not sampled my top pick below.
Perhaps I just got lucky with this pair, but the Celestron TrailSeeker ED 8x32 was better than the others by a noticeable margin. I now know what it means when someone says the image "pops" when looking through quality glass. Every time I brought these to my eyes I was amazed at the bright, vivid, edge-to-edge sharpness and excellent color rendition - it surprised me every time. An additional plus is the slender construction. The only negative so far: like the Sightron, these have the old-school "materials and workmanship" warranty vs a customer-pleasing no-fault, worry-free warranty... plus, you'll pay shipping there and back if you have to send it in. ... We'll see how well they hold up long term, but, for the price, the image these provide is simply outstanding.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2025Style: TrailSeeker ED 8X32Verified PurchaseSharp, bright image, feel good in my hands, feel light and compact, great case and strap. Field of view is adequate but could be better.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2023Style: TrailSeeker ED 8X32Verified PurchasePurchased a pair of these Celestron 8x32 ED Trailseeker binoculars recently and could not be happier with them. I wanted a pair of small, yet capable binos for birding when I did not want to carry my much heavier (and much much more expensive) 8.5x42 Swarovski binos into the field. I was immediately surprised by the quality of the Celestrons and by the clarity of their image. Are they as capable as the big Swarovski's? No, but their image is sharp, colors true, and they are easy to use...much more than adequate for all but the most demanding conditions. Plus they are a great value. Retail is currently (fall 2023) $340, but they are frequently on sale for about $280 and I purchased my pair on a killer deal...$235. Some things to note. First their eye relief is 15.6 mm. I wear eyeglasses and that eye relief is fine for me. However if your glasses sit far out from your eyes that eye relief (versus say 18-20 mm) may not be adequate. Second, the diopter adjustment doesn't lock like on my big binos. Again not an issue since the eyepiece is snug. Finally, unlike the Swarovski's, they do not have an ergonomic thumb placement area (so they are more traditional in their design). Given all that, the bottom line is a again these are wonderful mid-sized binoculars that for most people could be their primary pair (or consider the larger 8x42 ED Trailseeker binos if you need a bit more light gathering power for low light conditions). I highly recommend them.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2021Style: TrailSeeker ED 8X32Verified PurchaseI'm a big fan of the 8x32 style of binoculars. These aren't as bright or powerful as the 10x42 or 8x42 binoculars on the market, but they are 1/3 to 1/2 less bulky and lighter weight. I'm more of a hiker than a birder, so when I'm hiking 20 miles, the extra weight and space in my backpack is very noticeable. Realistically, the larger 42mm binoculars are mostly brighter than the 32mm size at dawn and dusk, which is not when I'm hiking. 8x vs 10x is a personal preference, but a lot of people prefer 8x because the image is easier to hand-hold (in addition to the smaller size and lower weight).
Celestron makes a wide variety of binoculars, including a lot of basic-quality entry-level stuff that is not built very well and doesn't perform very well. This TrailSeeker ED model is a big step up from entry-level, both in price and performance. This model isn't quite as good as the top-rated 8x32 models like Nikon Monarch or Zeiss Terra, which both sell for around $400, but I think it is at least as good as any of the competition selling for under $300 that I have tried. I see a bright clear image with no noticeable chromatic aberration. Field of view is much better than most 8x32 binoculars and the image is sharp over a wider area than other under-$300 binoculars that I have tried. Field of view is very useful if your subject moves quickly or unpredictably (birds, wild mammals, sports athletes, etc). Build quality has been very solid and reliable for me so far.
Some people complain that the Celestron warranty is not as good as the competition and this is true. Some of the other brands have a "no questions asked" return policy for a good period time. Celestron's warranty is very limited in comparison, so definitely take that into consideration, especially if you are hard on your equipment.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2025Style: TrailSeeker ED 8X32Verified PurchaseWe wanted these for travel. We aren't dedicated bird watchers, but wanted binoculars that are convenient to carry and are clearer and steadier than our other pair of travel binoculars. We've used these on a few trips so far and they're very nice. There are lots of binoculars that have the same range as these for less money, but these are very clear and easy to use. They are also compact and light enough to carry around fairly easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars Celestron TrailSeeker ED 10 x 32 - Bardzo dobra lornetka

5.0 out of 5 stars Kompakt und robust

4.0 out of 5 stars A good choice
Style: TrailSeeker ED 8X32Verified PurchaseI chose the 8x32 ED after lots of research as I wanted something I could take hiking for scouting the area as well as getting a closer look at nature. I got to test them thoroughly today at Holkam and they were flawless. First off there were lots of butterflies and dragonflies and to my surprise these could focus easily on the close stuff, giving me a new perspective on these colourful creatures.
Then we passed by a bird hide looking out over the marshes. I'm not much of a birder and I was worried the 2 blokes inside might bore me to death but I gave it a shot and I was amazed by the clarity and colours and really enjoyed watching the birds go about their business. I can definitely see the appeal and will do it again.
Then we went on to the beach and I got to see some ships out at sea. Holkham beach is vast but be careful as you pan around because it turns out they have a naturism section and you might end up looking at an old guy with his dangly bits out.
When looking to pick up the trail back inland I was able to easily scan the horizon and pick out the correct heading. Looking forward to making the most of these on some hikes in the mountains too. They are just the right size, any larger and I think they would be too much.
