I’ve had this for a few days now and I have to say it is a great addition to our “smart home”. With the kids going back to school, we wanted to get something that allowed us to stay in touch and interact with the latest addition to our family -- our rescue dog named Oreo. The Petcube exceeded my expectations in every way. From the initial unboxing, I was impressed with the quality of the materials and fit-and-finish of the Petcube. I downloaded the Petcube app using the QR code and walked through the setup to attach it to my home network. The configuration went smoothly and within 10 minutes the Petcube was online, connected to my home network and integrated to my Amazon account for Alexa use.
I loaded the included treats into the dispenser and set the Petcube on the floor so that Oreo could walk around it. I grabbed one of the treats and placed it in front of the Petcube and she snapped that right up and began sniffing for more, immediately around the sides of Petcube. I opened the app to try and figure out how to dispense a treat. Pulling up the camera view, I was really impressed with the quality and detail of the picture from the Petcube. I do have several RIng cameras so I thought I knew what to expect but the picture output from the Petcube is really crystal clear. I dispensed a treat and Oreo didn’t quite get it at first but after the second dispensed treat, she got the idea. I dispensed a couple more times to see if she really liked the treats and she chased them down so it seems she does.
Next, I wanted to try the two-way audio. I moved to another room and called Oreo from the Petcube. She was definitely confused with my voice coming from the Petcube but ultimately responded to my command to “go home”. So far so good! I’m interested in seeing how the bark alert works but she generally doesn’t bark much unless the pool guy comes into the backyard so I’ll have to see next week.
I moved back into the room to test the Alexa integration. I have an Amazon Echo in the same room as I was testing so I wasn’t sure if it would work at all. To my surprise, the Petcube responded to the “Alexa” wake word rather than my Echo and the integrated speaker in the unit is quite good -- Alexa responses are clear and very easy to understand. I’m going to test a bit more and possibly find a new home for the Echo!
Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase of the Petcube and will be installing the app on my kid’s devices as well. I’ll post an update a few weeks from now.

Update - I was contacted by customer support and had a new camera sent. This one also had some crumbs in it out of the box, so it seems this may be from a quality control step or crumbs leaking from the bag of treats included. This new one does seem to work better with less noise and fewer instances of it failing to give a treat.This arrived yesterday so I can't speak to how well it'll hold up. My initial impression taking it out of the box was that this was clearly an item that had been sold to someone else and returned. It had random debris on it (including what looked like dried pieces of grass - was it used outside?!) with lots of crumbs in the treat compartment, especially down in the rotating mechanism. Gross.I set it up anyway and have to say that downloading the app and getting it connected were easy. However, the second time I tried to open the video feed, it was somehow unable to find the camera. I had to restart the app to make it work. I've found that you have to restart the app or at least go back into video feed viewing mode every so often if you want to watch the feed continuously. This is how I plan to use it, at least at first, because I bought this for my dog with severe separation anxiety.I can't speak for the two-way audio feature. I've been told by the behavioral vet that it would probably do more harm than good in my dog's case.The treat dispensing feature, which was the main reason I bought this, is very hit or miss. This may be connected to the specific camera I received. I've tried 2 different kinds of treats so far and experimented with different sizes of the yellow inserts, and it's still hard to control what comes out. Sometimes, it's one or two like I want. Sometimes, it's more or less. And sometimes, it makes this horrible grinding noise and a whole lot of treats come out as well as a spray of crumbs the next time you fling a treat. My guess is that treats are getting caught in the mechanism, being ground up, and then a shotgun blast of treats comes out the next time. I expected better from this second version, based on the reviews, so I suspect that this particular camera was returned for being defective by the previous owner and that it was shipped to me without anyone looking it over or even cleaning it out.This isn't very important to me, but the picture quality is only so so. It's about as good as the cheap baby monitor cameras I already have set up to watch my dog.Overall, I say you might as well save your money and buy used - or just get a cheaper camera. Chances are, it's what you'll get anyway!

I got this to keep an eye on my dog when I started working full time and it turned out to be the perfect solution for both of us! The 5GHz wi-fi support and more treat related options were the core motivators for me.
The wi-fi setup was a breeze — it was so easy and quick I didn’t actually need to use the setup guide at all. I like the wide-angle view to see the whole room and the video quality is amazing — full HD, sharp and clear. The night mode is great too when I’m out or running late. I’ve come to really appreciate the two-way audio to be able to tell my pup to get off the couch or simply call him to fling a treat. I usually send him treats as a reward for behaving well and he learned fast! You can change the treat flinging distance to make it more fun and it works with major treat brands, so you won’t feel limited in choice or worry if you need to change your pup’s diet. Other times, I just set up the auto flinging mode so he gets some yummies during the day and I only check in on him when I get a pet activity alert. I signed up for the Petcube Care service because of the auto-recording feature — it’s very helpful when I’m driving or busy at work and can’t check in on him right away. I can then go back in video history and see what he was up to. Once I was able to catch him eating a chewing gum of the block I accidentally left on the table. I took him to the vet immediately — luckily, he was all good, rascal.
Overall, I would recommend it for any pet parent! While it may not seem like a necessity for some, it’s very helpful to have peace of mind while away and I believe could be a lifesaver, too.
A built-in Alexa is a nice bonus! It’s optional but can come very handy — you can ask her to treat your pet instead of you or look for some great dog treat recipies.

The product was delivered quickly and on time, as promised, and I had no issues along the way. It looked exactly as in the images and the packaging was brand new and beautiful. I was setting up the device late at night and had a few questions regarding the treat compatibility that I decided to address the Support Team about and was pleased to receive the super quick and clear response even though it was late.
