Directions

Prepare your skin: Wash your face to wet your whiskers and make them easier to cut. You can also exfoliate to remove dead skin cells. Harry's recommends leaving the shave cream on for two minutes to allow it to soak in. Shave with the grain: Start by shaving in the direction of your hair growth to reduce friction and irritation. Shave against the grain: For a closer shave, you can go against the grain after shaving with the grain. Rinse the blade: Rinse the blade after each stroke. Check the blades: Replace the blade cartridge if it starts to tug, as this can help reduce razor burn. Use the trimmer: Use the precision trimmer for areas that are hard to reach. Protect the blade: Use the travel cover to protect the blade when it's not in use.

    I recently gave up on Gillette's 5 blade because the 'lubrastrip' and their blades would always wear down extremely quickly after the first 2-3 uses.

    Googled around and a surprising (now unsurprising) amount of people touted and suggested Harry's so I gave it a try. I have no regrets and can definitely see why so many people recommend it.

    Price is extremely competitive, especially this set. As of this review, Gillette fusion 5 comes with the razer and 4 extra heads for 19.00 whereas this comes with 2 extra heads but the shaving cream and aftershave gel for 12.00. 2 extra heads are NOT worth $7 by the way. With the quality of Harry's heads as compared to Gilette's, I'm sure Harry's will last much longer than Gilette's, even though they give you more replaceable heads as well.

    The lubricating strip on Harry's is extremely top notch. It really does what it's supposed to, and doesn't really leave a kind of sticky feeling as the 'lubrastrip' on Gilette did. I've used it 5+ times and the strip doesn't appear to lose any of it's lubricating properties yet either, which Gilette definitely did after 2-3 uses.

    On to the shaving cream, I threw away my Gilette shaving cream in favor of Harry's because the cream felt much better on my skin and foamed up better/covered up more surface area with less. The smell and feel are better too in my opinion.

    My shave with Harry's feels MUCH closer and is much more even after more shaves than with Gilette. The icing on the cake is that Gilette begins to pull my hair after a few uses but Harry's definitely does not AND Gilette's blade actually chafe my skin but Harry's doesn't! Somehow, my hair is what is being cut, and not my skin so I don't have that dry skin/chafed skin look after I shave.

    Finally, the aftershave gel. This is much more personal of an issue so my most objective opinion on this is that it's good but if you want more details on why I didn't give it a 4/5, you can keep reading.

    I haven't tried the Gilette brand one since I've been using a Walgreens branded aftershave 'splash' for quite awhile because it actually moisturized, soothed and cooled my face to some degree. This was my first time using aftershave gel. I can tell you the transition has been a bit weird. One one hand, Harry's gel definitely leaves my face more moisturized and softer. However, feel-wise for me, it's a thicker gel so I try to use the bare minimum (I'm talking about around the size of a pea) but even then, I still kind of 'feel' like it's on my face if that makes sense. I'm also not sure if it's my particular bottle or not but I have to leave it upside down or else the lotion kind of moves around as one singular pass inside the bottle and if I squeeze too hard, way too much comes out at once.

    Anyways, if you're coming from aftershave liquid to this, I'd compare the sensation to wearing sunscreen that really coats your skin and feels like you're wearing it to using a much higher quality sunscreen that doesn't feel like it's there once you apply it. However, this is more of a personal thing. The other reason why I'm giving it 4/5 is because it doesn't quite have the same soothing sensation as 'aftershave' splash by nature since this is more of a lotion/balm than a thin liquid.

    Overall, would NOT switch back to Gilette and will definitely keep moving forward with Harry's in the future.
