I really like this watch. The size is great. It’s comfortable. The features are great, however I do wish I spent a little more for one that is touchscreen. Not being touchscreen kinda limits the features for me a lot. Other than that it’s a great watch.

Great replacement. Super long batt life. Love the RHR feature as well as the ability to add way more data screens for running than I’ll ever need. Highly recommended!

Horrible First Experience with Garmin

Horrible First Experience - 21 days ago

I bought the watch, charged it up, and put it on. First off, I'm coming from a Fitbit Versa 3, which is now back on my wrist. The screen on the Forerunner 255 is beyond bad. It's so dark and dull compared to the AMOLED on my Versa 3. What's odd is that the Versa 3 released in Q3 of 2020 and the Forerunner released Q2 of 2022. Why would Garmin, on a more expensive watch to the Fitbit, use such a bland screen? Okay, next I sat down and tried to customize the watch face. I don't know if it's user error or a defective watch, but I ended up getting out in the weeds attempting to get steps, date, time, battery percentage and heart rate. Somehow I ended up with options that I didn't choose, trying to navigate through the menus on the watch to change the screen is only done manually on the watch and not through the app. Menus started coming up with different options and I couldn't navigate back to starting points. Eventually I got so frustrated with the watch that I crammed everything back in the box and shipped it back as broken. Why the platform doesn't offer a more simple experience to modify the watch face is beyond me? Bad screen, couldn't get the watch to display the stats I'm looking for, while a simple Fitbit is eons better than the Forerunner, I'd give every reason why to look elsewhere for a watch! I was really looking forward to the Garmin coach, yet I didn't even get to take it on a run. My Versa 3 has nearly 2,000 miles jogged using it. It's on its last leg with Bluetooth sync issues, but for the price, why would anyone look at Garmin for an upgrade? I'm dealing with the Versa 3 right now. But the sync issues are getting frustrating now. Just not as frustrating as getting a Garmin setup. Maybe the Forerunner 9 series is where it's at. I'm just not going to that price point. I'm a half marathon runner and an fine with the simplicity of a Fitbit syncing to my phone. So, next purchase is probably going to be a Versa 4 when it goes back on sale.

Great everyday watch and running companion

My wrist feels naked without this watch now. It is a comfortable watch to wear sleeping, exercising, and for daily use. The metrics are extensive, the set up was intuitive, it pairs easily with my phone and heart rate monitor and relays incoming messages and weather data. Its always-on display with a seconds hand is extremely useful at work, and the coaching feature have helped me progress as a newer-to-training runner. Plus the battery life can last 3-7 days depending on how many workouts I record.

This is my second garmin watch with my first being the fenix 5x. Very impressive how much better these watches have gotten since then. This one is half the weight, higher resolution, and the same battery life as my first. Been enjoying the heart rate variability figure as a marker for workout recovery. Also I usually get 2.5 to 3 weeks of battery from the watch. If you are active and are motivated by self improvement this watch is a great way to monitor your progress.

The watch does what I need it to do — but there’s a lot that I’m sure it does as well but I can’t figure those things out. It’s not as intuitive as a tech-idiot like me would have liked.

This is my 4th (I think) garmin watch and I love it. Has many great feature to help me keep track of my fitness and health. I can even tell when I'm getting a cold with 1 of the tools on it. Compared to the other garmins this is the best bang for your buck. So happy I bought it

I bought it a month ago and since then I've used it every day. I love the GPS and navigation features, and the sleep details as well. It's very light, and comfortable to wear. I wish I'd bought it sooner.

I honestly don't have many (real) complaints. The watch has so many apps that it can be overwhelming, but for the white spots appearing on my 645, I don't think I would've upgraded

I have been happy with my purchase of the Forerunner 255. Meets all my expectations. I use it for my running, both trails and roads and always picks up satellite fairly quickly and it's pace, mileage and elevation features all seem pretty accurate. I also use it for gym workouts, swimming laps, and biking. Battery life is good. Maybe charge it twice a week, depending on how many miles I run. Overall, I feel like it's been a good value for it's price

Useful data and exercise guidance

I starting using this watch a month ago, replacing my other fitness watch that stopped working. I really enjoy Garmin Coaching and the insight into the data that is being gathered about my health and sleep. It's been a big transition, as scores for sleep have been very different than my previous watch. My scores have been much lower on the Garmin. This feels more accurate. Garmin gives me information as to why and how to improve. I really like that all the features are included with the watch and I don't have to sign up for a subscription to get the data I want and need. Exercise tracking is amazing. There is so much data available. Garmin puts the data into useful graphs and offers comparisons to other runners. The Garmin Coaches are great. I set up a goal right away and it helped me plan an exercise routine. During the plan, I've changed coaches (so I could change to three day training instead of four) and have gain valuable insight into improved running technique. I've used the yoga workouts on my watch as well. They are easy to follow and don't require a larger screen to see the poses. The battery life is fantastic. The watch band is comfortable and doesn't collect sweat. Overall, I'm very happy with the watch. It is a great tool to help me maintain and improve my health.
