    Compact high processor laptop

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 in Platinum White is a stunning blend of power and elegance, making it a standout in the gaming laptop market. Here’s a detailed review: Design and Build: The Zephyrus G14’s Platinum White finish is not just visually appealing but also exudes a premium feel. The CNC-machined aluminum chassis is both lightweight (3.31 lbs) and durable, making it perfect for gamers on the go. The slim profile (0.63 inches) ensures it fits easily into any backpack without compromising on sturdiness. Display: The 14-inch OLED 3K display is a game-changer. With a resolution of 2880 x 1800 and a 120Hz refresh rate, it delivers vibrant colors and sharp details, making both gaming and content creation a delight. The 0.2ms response time and G-SYNC support ensure smooth, tear-free gameplay, even in fast-paced action scenes. Performance: Under the hood, the Zephyrus G14 packs a punch with the AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU. This combination ensures top-tier performance, whether you’re gaming, streaming, or multitasking. The 32GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB SSD provide ample memory and storage for all your needs. Cooling: ASUS has equipped this laptop with ROG Intelligent Cooling technology, including Tri-Fan technology and liquid metal thermal compound. These features keep the laptop cool and quiet, even during intense gaming sessions. Audio: The audio experience is equally impressive, with enhanced woofers that deliver clear and vibrant sound. Battery Life: Despite its powerful specs, the Zephyrus G14 offers decent battery life, making it suitable for extended gaming sessions or work on the go. Conclusion: The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 in Platinum White is a perfect blend of style, performance, and portability. It’s an excellent choice for gamers and creators looking for a high-performance laptop that doesn’t compromise on aesthetics or build quality. Whether you’re gaming, creating content, or just browsing, this laptop delivers on all fronts.

Drove 2 hours to pick it up... Was it worth it?

Screen: Best I have seen in any laptop... Ever. Sound: Best I have ever heard in any laptop... Ever. Keyboard & Trackpad: Best I have used in any laptop... Ever. NVidia 4070: I play all my games on high everything, absolutely do problems. I also utilize the AI features of this specific card and it is fantastic. You will love gaming, coding, and everyday stuff with this laptop and with this card. RAM: It's 32 GB in a laptop. Stop pretending it is better to be able to install RAM. That's only the case if they don't give you enough. 32 GB is enough. It wasn't enough when they sold the G14 with lower amounts of RAM. Soldered RAM is faster and more efficient, especially in terms of power conservation... The RAM performance is fantastic. Lighting: The keyboard lighting is the best on the entire series of laptops. This is my third personally owned G14. I'm responsible for a lot of G14 sales because it's what I recommend to just about everyone. Slash lighting is cool, could have a few more options on how to utilize it, but there is already software for better options. QC: Any complaint I had with the g14 2023 model was addressed with this one. Fantastic build. Amazing look. Storage: 1TB storage is solid both in terms of size and performance. I will probably upgrade this in terms of performance, but I'm definitely not in a hurry because it is really good. Battery: I think it's great. Just take advantage of the power features. People that complain about "only 4 hours of usage" while having everything maxed out are insane. It's a battery. It's sufficient in size and the power options to get the most out of your battery are fantastic. Weight: This this is awesome to carry around. I love the power, performance, weight balance... So was it worth driving 2 hours, one way, to get it? Now that I have both seen and used it... I would have driven 8 hours, one way, to get it. Yes. Go get one. The second you can find it available, go get one. Did you buy one yet? Go get one.

    Much better than previous years

This is my third ROG Zephyrus G14. I've had the 2020 model with the RTX 2060 Max-Q, the 2021 model with the RTX 3060, and now this one (one of the previous ones was returned, and the other was resold). In some ways, it's a step down, notably with battery life. However, the thermals are finally under control. It's not piping ridiculously hot exhaust right onto the screen and it's not getting unbearably hot to the touch while gaming. Also, having a (single zone) RGB backlit keyboard now means that the backlight can stay on without making the keys illegible -- seriously, who thought white LEDs on silver keys was a good idea. I also like that the lid LEDs are now standard and not just a feature of the highest-end models, even though the area is much smaller.] That being said, let's dive in. The combination of the Ryzen 9 8945HS and the RTX 4070 are extremely performant, especially with 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Ordinarily soldered RAM is a hard pass for me, but I generally don't go above 32 GB on most computers unless they're going to be used for serious work. A good comparison is my desktop -- it has a Ryzen 5 5600X, a RTX 3070 TI and 64 GB of DDR4 RAM. The desktop is better for running VMs and has more expansion capabilities. The Zephyrus is better at everything else, including gaming. I was perfectly happy with my desktop's gaming chops until I bought this laptop -- but right now, subjectively, between the high-refresh OLED display and the RTX 4070, the Zephyrus feels like it's running circles around my desktop. My biggest gripe with this model is the fact that you only get a single M.2 slot for storage. Ordinarily I like to run at least 2 drives in my computers. Having your files split between 2 drives means that you're putting less wear on each, and having a single drive also means that you have to shell out more for larger storage, and that also means a single point of failure. I upgraded the SSD to a 2 TB drive on mine, cloning from the original using Macrium Reflect. And on the note of opening it, I will say that it's not hard to get inside the Zephyrus. The bottom is secured with a bunch of Torx screws, including 2 under the black plastic pieces on the back edge near the hinges, but there's no shenanigans like screws hidden under parts attached by adhesive. It's easy to get at the parts you will likely be interested in touching (SSD, wifi card, battery). Overall, I've had nothing but good experiences with the 2024 model, aside from the relatively short battery life -- in reality, getting 7-ish hours of battery out of a 14" gaming laptop just shows how spoiled we've gotten in the last several years -- and I think this is definitely worth the price, if you can swing it.
