One of the rollers broke within six weeks. They're replacing it, but it was a hassle.

One of the rollers broke within six weeks. They're replacing it, but it was a hassle.
This i4 Roomba is good at cleaning up the pet hair and it is consistent, once the map was learned. Yes, the clean out function at the end of each run is loud, like other reviews have said, but the tower unit does suck out all the junk from the robot's bin. My issue is that I ordered this on July 9, it worked fine for about a month of four times a week cleaning, and then I paused it while we went on vacation, and by the first week of September, it was giving error code 2, clean the brushes. I dutifully cleaned the hair from the roller brush ends and removed the plastic roller caps and cleaned the hair spooled around the roller shaft, but discovered that the lighter green roller was not spinning at all because the metal axle had completely broken (it's supposed to be sticking up out of the green roller, but it's missing in the picture I've attached below). I called amazon support, was put on hold for 35 minutes, and then my call was "disconnected" after speaking with somebody about this problem. I called iRobot and they said their offices were closed (it was Labor Day weekend). I decided to order a new pair of roller brushes (the real iRobot parts are RIDICULOUSLY expensive, but I wanted to make sure I was using authentic parts), and that solved the problem! But it should've been covered under the warranty, and I should'nt have had to pay all that money for new roller brushes. I called iRobot support again a week later, and after 15 minutes of holding, a customer service rep took my information, and said they would ship me an entire new brush head module, since it was only two months since purchase. Then he put me on hold for a further seven mintues to "check with a manager," and again, I was disconnected from the call. At least this time they did call me back, and told me that they would send out the new brush head module and it would arrive in seven to ten business days. We'll see. I'm concerned that I'm doomed to keep ordering roller brushes. All told, it was almost $30 in the hole for new brushes and almost an hour on hold on the phone. Super hassle. If you have similar problems, don't waste your time like I did and call amazon--go directly to iRobot support. I'll update this post if I actually get the rollers in the time frame promised.

We, or rather I, named our robot Sancho Villa not sure why, it was just the name that popped in my head when prompted by the app. We have two dogs, one of which is a golden retriever, and two young kids and travertine tile floors throughout most of the home. The robot does a great job of keeping the floors relatively clean, which if you know anything about golden (or young kids) is no small feat. It’s a bit loud and takes quite awhile to vacuum the entire home but that’s a petty complaint. So far, so good on the mapping and being able to tell the robot to vacuum the kitchen or whatever other room. (FYI - you can designate/name rooms in the app). Last tip, if you get an error notification from the app and you need to pick up your robot, try to put it back as close to where you picked it up as possible or your robot will get lost and meander aimlessly through the house trying to figure out where it’s at.

Expensive but worth it. Oh….buy extra vacuum bags and side brushes right away. Would recommend the factory replacement rather than 3rd party stuff.

The first two times I used this roomba, it didn’t clean everything. The first time, I used it with a partially full battery. I left while it was charging and when I returned, it had “completed the job”. But it was obvious it didn’t hit the bedroom or living room. The second time, it got stuck under a chest of drawers in the bedroom, then spent 20 minutes “looking for home”. I had to carry it to the base in order for it to find it. It never vacuumed the living room, dining room and part of the bedroom. The third time I used it, I made sure it was fully charged, and blocked the chest of drawers so it couldn’t go under it. The roomba seemed to spend a lot of time wandering around the house, returned once to empty the bin, and once to recharge. But, it completed every room and did a bang up job of it. All I really have to do is make sure everything is picked up off the floor and all electric cords are not hanging down onto the floor. Also to block off the area under the chest of drawers. I’m looking forward to the next scheduled cleaning. Currently, I’m cleaning three times a week, but I may cut down on that after a few weeks. Depends on how much I like the clean floors!

I started out with a two-star review, but I then revised my rating to ONE...one year later I can't believe this company is still in business ZERO STARS
This company has an evil plan to turn vacuuming into a subscription service. Another app that steals your data and demands constant attention on your phone.
This thing seriously never works. I have an 1800-square feet hard-wood floor and this thing has NOT A SINGLE day cut the mustard. it has taken over as literally the number one notification I get on my phone. I'm at band rehearsal trying to concentrate and BOOM this thing buzzes and needs to tell me "A job can not be completed". By the way that's what they should have called this thing the "job cannot be completed" from irobot because get ready that is the notification you will see by far the most.
Literal daily example trials with this machine:
    1. It will be in the middle of vaccuming and just stop, turn itself off, and sit listless in the middle of your floor - no explanation - until you move it back to its base to recharge, even though this is not what was advertised
    2. When you move it back to its base it takes a few hours to recharge which may interfere with its own schedule, thus once in a while you will lose track of where the vacuum is in its work cycle and suddenly at the most inopportune time (such as when the children are asleep) it will empty its own bag (loudly), so this thing has to constantly be babysat and attended to, just another electric device in my house demanding my attention. If the children are asleep i have to manually stop it and flip it on its back so it doesn't find its way back to its base and wake up the children by emptying its dust bin.
    3. This thing insists on giving me insignificant daily alerts such as "a job was completed", "a job cannot be completed", "roomba is stuck"., or "roomba rebooted", all things that if i'm home i can discern I don't need to blowing up my phone. I don't want my life to revolve around a vacuum but I can tell you after owning this thing for one month it literally needs daily maintenance and I wonder if it would be LESS worth my trouble to just vacuum myself.
it only works on hard wood floors or tile. If you have carpet or any rugs you will have to vacuum them manually. If your entire house is carpeted then don't buy it you will be sorry.
As for how well it works on smooth floors:
Forget about convenience. It works when it wants to. Wanna set it to vacuum the house as you are leaving for the day? Forget it. You open the app and get the "waiting to connect" message indefinitely - even if you turn your phone off and back on, reboot the app, uninstall it. It just doesn't matter. The manner in which it works is pure voodoo...it works whenever it feels like it despite my HI-speed internet connection.

I literally have to reboot the entire machine every day just to get it to work how it's supposed to.

-Setting up the machine: was a headache because it will only work with a 2.5ghz internet connection. If you don't know how to change that setting on your router (which I didn't, the WIFE just so happened to remember how to do that from when we bought the router) then you might as well not buy it, there is no way around this and no helpful instructions to help you with your own router either.
Overall the machine works about 60 percent of the time. I have had it a week and still not ONCE been able to wake up, set it and forget it, leave and come back to a clean house. It takes several days (supposedly) to map out your house but trying to label and then get it to vacuum individual rooms is a complete fools errand. Won't work. I exclusively use the "vacuum everywhere" command as it's the only thing that seems to work.
It takes two and a half hours for it to vacuum my house which is a normal sized kitchen, large dining room and living room, two bathrooms, and three bedrooms.

It will only work when I am at home and can supervise it as it needs constant supervision. It gets stuck all the time. This is the only way to get a vacuumed house because, again, it just won't work when I need it to. I have taken to every once in a while just opening the app at random and seeing if it says "ready to vacuum" then I feel like buying a lottery ticket. That's my experience. Overall not very impressed. after I owned it for one year the cleaning head module needed to be replaced. AFter one year in production the irobot company does not offer for purchase the cleaning module that i need

First - I’m an automation-avoider. But… life is busy and my wife gets overwhelmed with all the dust and dog hair. We have our fair share of clutter around the house so I wasn’t sure how it would handle. The Roomba exceeded my expectations.

We have 2 long-haired dogs. They shed. It gets crazy. The Roomba does ok overall. Sometimes the rollers get wound up with dog hair. We pull them out, unwind, and carry on.

The Roomba also will just stop working every month or so. I take her to the garage and blow all around with the air compressor to clear the dust from the sensors. Good as new, she’s back to work.

The Roomba also gets hung up on some spots around our house. We adapt and block-off areas, tip over chairs, etc.

Is it perfect? No. Can something of this size be perfect? I don’t think so. Overall, it’s an improvement vs. manually sweeping daily.

We do need to give our unit some maintenance, around once per month. But if you are reasonably capable, I think it’s a good investment. I even bought one for my 80-year old parents. I do a FaceTime occasionally with them to work through issues, but I feel much better having the Roomba work under the beds and couches compared to my elderly parents. I think it’s been positive for all of us.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not work on 220v!
Reviewed in Singapore on December 14, 2022
I was skeptical when the base's power adapter said 100-120v. But seeing as Amazon.sg sold this to me in Singapore, I assumed it would work. The base will power up on 220v with a simple adapter. And it will convert AC to DC and charge the Roomba. So the Roomba will run.

However, the base's "empty bin" feature uses a vaccuum motor in the base. And that motor requires 110v. So, the automatic emptying feature will complain of a problem on the base when trying to empty the bin. That feature will not work on this device unless you have a 1.2kW transformer for your 220v/110v conversion.
